Once again, nothing beats a good ol' phone call.

And they DO use USPS. You're just not looking hard enough.

I have had several small orders shipped USPS from Bailey's. It is the customers choice on shipping when you are checking out so just click the right shipping method in the box.

Is it still $12? Because the small USPS box is $5.20. I guess I don't care which shipper it is if the price is the same.

I wouldn't have said anything if it were the same price . My shipments were the next size box up and they were $7.95, you Sir could read Baileys policy on shipping and saved yourself a lot of troubles and this thread is a

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try next time and if it works out, I'll send you a free hat.

So at the bottom of the Shipping Rates it should further state: "If you choose not to, are unaware or do not call us for an order specific shipping quote, we will charge you what amounts to 60% of the cost to ship a chainsaw powerhead from coast to coast for a couple of bar nuts."

At times shipping can be excessive but when I order from my local dealer, I usually have to wait for it to get in, drive 50 miles to get it home, and often pay shipping if it is a special order. If you think you can save some dough, drive to the Bailey's store and pick it up yourself.

I see they do use usps but would you rather go get tags for your car at the dmv or pick up a prescription at walmart? private sector or gov.

I most of the time use UPS for saws when I ship. All my lighter items go USPS Priority mail. If a heavy item will fit a flat rate box and it saves a customer money I go that route. The USPS will come and pick up a shipment that I'm shipping at my house for free. UPS charges for that. I once sold a guy some 1" drive sockets that lived in Hawaii. I got all of them in a large flat rate box. The weight was 68 lbs. It cost 14.99 to ship them there. The mail clerk told me it would have cost around 165 bucks otherwise. The one thing I do like and utilize is the free shipping boxes the USPS provide. The custom ordered saw boxes I use with UPS cost me 2.55$ each from the Uline Company. You can go to the USPS web site and order all shipping boxes you want for free and they deliver them right to your house.https://shop.usps.com/webapp/wcs/sto...WT.ac=10000033 UPS, Fedex, or USPS shipping is all getting damned expensive now days, but at least with USPS you get free shipping boxes. Hell they used to provide free packing tape but people abused that perk and they quit doing that.

Don't try and and tell me that USPS is cheaper than UPS. On 5-19-11 I sent our sick 660 to Baileys we spent 60.05 to get it shipped. Our post office upsells you insurance (17.50) to make sure they will replace it if they drop it out of a 747 aircraft. The box weighed 15.6 pounds. Not happy with the Postal service.

I was answering in an indirect manner. However they want to cover their costs, shouldn't really matter. Whether that cost is in the purchase price, shipping column, handling column, or whatever. Same as if I bid a job, owner should care whether I catergorize my costs as direct, overhead or profit, in the end paying a total price. Usually though, for internet companies as a generalization, it is a marketing ploy. Advertised cost is cheaper.

Maybe they are in business to make money, and have already considered the shipping options that make the best sense.
