    Why doesn't Bailey's use USPS?

$12 to ship a box of items weighing mere ounces is just ridiculous

USPS is reliable and the cheapest. My guess is Bailey's is hittin ya with handling. Cause the actual shipping ain't much.

To be totally honest. I have passed on buying stuff from Baileys, as it cost so much to ship here. That, and I usually have to wait a week for it to show up using the cheapest shipping option. Its a shame because they've got a great selection and always answer any questions I have without issue. On stuff I don't need right away, I'll group parts up until I have a larger order to soften the blow.

I have had stuff shipped to me from Baileys via USPS priority mail, it came in two different packages. 372 gasket kit, 372 fuel line, 3-4 big husky fuel filters, 266xp fuel line and some other odds and ends. This happened with in the 6-8 months.

    Edit:
Just went on the website and added some stuff to my cart and USPS came up as a option. May want to call Baileys and see if they can ship your parts cheaper.

A larger order does help a lot. I usually get small items from my local dealer (same price, no shipping, but sales tax), or wait until I need more stuff before I order.

I work for an industrial distributor. We use UPS on 98% of everything that isn't freight. The other 2% is fedex.

We looked @ the USPS and their tracking and software integration s nowhere near what UPS is. It would cost us 3x as much to use USPS and little savings to customers.

I won't speak for Bailey's but I would assume the same is true.

Another thing is USPS has hevier restrictions and upcharges on oversize, heavy and hazard material (oil, fuel, aeresol)

You can choose usps when checking out. I just did it a few weeks ago. You might have to pick get a shipping quote or something like that and then when you're checking out it gives the options.

It is probably easier for a larger company to set up software for UPS or Fedex. But as a small business, I much prefer USPS. I ship 6-12 packages per week, sometimes more, through the post office, with fantastic service. The heavy stuff (20-70 lbs) goes in Flat Rate boxes (by far the best deal going). The expensive stuff goes Express mail, overnight and is cheaper than the other two. Everything else goes Priority, 2-4 days depending. Also, USPS tracking just got upgraded and seems much better.

Not a good thread. Why don't you ask Bailey's in their forum?

I do a good bit of hobby business through the USPS. I repair model airplane glow and gasoline engines and horse trade with others for various parts.

I try to deal with vendors that ship USPS as I like the price/service better.

There's no way I can afford to pay more than double the price to ship via UPS.

However, there are some places that you don't want anything going through the postal service like for example, downtown Chicago.

I also notice that some USPS areas will stall off delivering something that was delivered the majority of the distance by a package forwarding company only to be taken out to the home by USPS. . .

I could honestly care less what they charge. The way I have always looked at it was, if it costs me X dollars from a store or A + B from Bailey's (as example), as long as A + B is cheaper than X, I don't care if 50% of the cost is shipping, still getting a better deal. Same goes for Ebay shopping, or whatever, all comes down to total end cost.

HittinSteel makes a good point, though..

if your ordering 2 fuel filters, a bar plate, and a couple bar nuts, it's pricey...

SOME PEOPLE can't stand dealing with 'store A' or 'store B', or 'dealer X' cause they are mentally handicapped, and you mind-as-well bring in part #'s for them

You are entitled to your opinion, but it didn't really answer the question that the OP asked...

OTOH, I will agree with total, over-all cost... BUT, doesn't explain WHY the crazy shipping when UPS's min is around $6...

I've gotten stuff shipped from Baileys via USPS before. I usually do phone orders with them. I sort out what I need on the website (or with a catalog) and then call. The've worked with me to figure out the cheapest/quickest shipping options before (and that was USPS on at least one occaision).

Tune the H side so that it burbles (four strokes) at WOT unloaded and just cleans up when under load. When you lift cutting pressure, the saw should revert to four stroking.
