I have found one at the scrap yard, but they are few and far between, check around with your small engine shops some will have a bone yard and may have what you are looking for, next would be to buy another saw with the part you need, as I have found it is usually cheaper to buy a whole saw than it is to buy the part. Look for other saws than the 10-10, McCulloch put that clutch cover on many of the 10x series of saws including ones that start with PM, CP, and SP.

At the scrap ask to look in the clean and dirty mag containers.

Thanks for the tip. With as many of these that where made I thought a decent cover would be a bit easier to locate.

For me, the bad thing about buying a parts saw is that I try to fix the parts saw up also.

Looking good Fraser. I have a couple NOS air filters that came with some other stuff for that saw that you can have if you want 'em.

Sam the problem lies in the fragile, poorly designed tensioner setup on the otherwise excelent 10-series design. Users of these saws often cranked down the bar nuts without carefully keeping the tensioner pin seated in the hole in the bar. The result is many many clutch covers busted like yours...

Don't tune old saws with a tach!
Tune the H side so that it burbles (four strokes) at WOT unloaded and just cleans up when under load. When you lift cutting pressure, the saw should revert to four stroking.

i tried to get as much yellow goodness as i could in the pic. the bench and rack set up is working out great. its better than the work saw bench. now i have more room to put more saws.it's funny how you start off with work saws and acumilate so many more in such a short time.......... i am not done yet.

    PM605 Carb Swap

Well, it was on my Silver Eagle 3420 really, but same thing. If you have a PM605 55cc or any of the other versions, you may find switching to a Walbro HDB-1 beneficial. I was having trouble tuning my HDB-6B and swapped it out, and it runs much better this way. Here is the thread I did on it: Identifying Walbro HDB by Venturi Size
