WE ARE HERE FOR A GOOD TIME NOT A LONG TIME.....!
I wasnt aware they were rev limiting. Somebody more knowledgeble will chime in shortly.
not for hire......
Nuttin to see here....move along.....
There is the old red light special 066, that what you talking about?
I think there is a little work involved changing a red light 066 to new coil.
New coils are $100-$125 or more, should be able to find a use one for half that. 046/460 ignition is same PN.

I'm not sure this conversion makes any sense at all, economically or realistically.
First, I believe the redlight 066s use a different flywheel, which requires a different crankshaft, which requires you use a totally different crank seal that I'm not even sure exists.
Second, these saws have a reputation of being early impossible to blow up short of straight gassing. Why would you give that up and wreck a good saw? Better to find an 066 the way you want it. I used to own a redlight, and it was a cutting fool. Sold it early this year for $300. There are times I wish I had kept it. On the other hand, it would still be sitting on the floor of my shed collecting dust.

If you went to changing out the flywheel and dealing with all the differences with cranks, seals ect, then yes, way too much trouble.
Amazing though how things can be made to work together that were never designed to work together...

It's real simple to get rid of the rev-limiting CDIC Red Light coil. You can simply use the 0000 400 1300 coil that's used on many current Stihls. All you have to do is make sure you have the right flywheel. Some Red Lights had a flywheel with two keyways. If yours does, you're good to go. All you have to do is install it in the other slot. If not, you'll need to find the correct flywheel. If you try to use the same flywheel/keyway that you were using with the RL coil, the timing will be way too far advanced. I highly recommend this modification since tuning is much easier. You do not need to do anything with the crank or seals.

Have a 201T that doesn't run like you expected? Need a new one that's already modded and ready to go? PM me for details.
Not trying to jump in anyones way here but I have a related question. I am currently putting together a flat top 066 from my parts pile. I have a 2 slot flywheel 1122 400 1209a, 11224001214, and I have 4 ignitions 1311, 1314, iida with a C on the side, and an iida with an A on the side. Will any of this work together?
This was covered in another thread but I think the PDF says it all on the usable combinations. Courtesy of the one and only Lakeside.

Well, I stand corrected on the mechanics of the conversion, even though my statement isn't inaccurate. However, I still question the logic of the conversion.

At the risk of sounding dumb - again. What does the term "red light" mean with reference to an 066? I have an 066. How do I know if it's a red light?
It has a small red light on it that lights up when it hit the rev limiter, a tuning aid was the idea I think.

If changing FW's around, color very end of FW nose with marker, put FW
on crank, push down and turn by hand, pull FW back off and check nose
to see if it is rubbing on seal......If not, you are good, if rubbing seat seal
a little deeper and recheck. This is also a way to check if you have seated a new seal deep enough.
This pdf only shows ignitions with numbers I have some with letters A and C no numbers. I have poly flywheel saws with the C ignition and also one junked aluminum flywheel saw with the C ignition. Seeking clarity.
