    looking at dolmar5100s

    Been thinkin I deserve a new saw to replace my stolen 026. the 5100 looks good on paper and a bill less than a new 260. both dealers are close so thats no issue. All opinions will be considered.
    Wifey says, tell me I don't really need it(but yu,all don't listen to her).

    See if your dealer will let you run the 5100s. If it doesn't float your boat you'll know what to get, but why not try the Husky too ? $400-500 clams on the line here.

    I like mine more than I liked my 026s, my 154 (before and after porting) or any 346xp (OE or NE) that I've run that hadn't been ported silly.

    Consider 346xp also if there's a dealer around. Only complaint about 5100 is air filtration. Do a search.
    Saws: Husky 346xpg NE, 550 xpg, 372xp, 576xp, 3120xp; Jonsered 670, Stihl MS 211, Stihl 064 [project] (coil/ignition needed)

    260,346 or 5100S are all great saws,but feel completely different.

    I liked my 028Super better then my 5100,but that's just me go figure.

    I had the old stihl so long don't know if anything else will suit me.. I got a pretty good deal last fall on a home owner husky but it just ani't growin on me, plus its too heavy. maybe the dealer will give me somthing in trade cause it a low mileage 257.

    I have a 5100s and an 026 PRO.

    I rarely even start the 026Pro.
    The 5100 is as close to a perfect saw (FOR ME) as I have ever seen in that size and especially for that price.

    The 026 is a good saw and in small stuff the 346 is a sweet saw but when the wood gets a little bit bigger the 5100 REALLY shines.

    IMO the 5100 out cuts the 026, but it is a newer design and pretty much a hod rod saw, so it should.

    It is a smooth and fast cutting saw. I only sold mine because no local dealer support.

    the dolmar dealer here seems more reliable than the stihl dealer, more inventory etc. He also sells shindawa j-red and echo. all round nice guy also. For a tight wad like me its gonna be tough but I really want that little dolmar hot-rod.

    There is no comparison between a 260 and a 5100, the 5100 completely smokes them !

    enuff arm twisting for me, the dolmar it is. I'm thinkin 3/8 on the chain since I have the files grinder guides etc. but thats no biggie if the 3.25 is better suited I'll go that route.
