Been trying to find some oversized felling dogs to fit a 361, not having much luck. I've tried the 460 dogs, they were close but didn't line up right. How about the 441 dogs? Anybody have the solution?

Thanks in advance, Gene

Stihl makes a kit with a ceramic chain catcher and everything for the 361. Not the big dogs like on the 70cc and bigger saws... but way better than the wimpy stock single.

Talk to your stihl dealer they can order you some larger dawgs for the 361, I had them on mine they aren't giant but bigger and better than the stock.

This is what I've done. The dogs for the 440 (441 as well,???) don't fit exactly because of a little molded part on the engine. I cut a 440 dog around this intentional "bump" (don't know why its there), but it caused a weak spot. The dog bent and fatigued, then broke.

The 361 double-dog replacement is the best things that I've found.

I don't think/ know that filing the little "bump" down on the powerhead would cause any weak spots on the case, in which case the 440 dog would have fit. I just didn't risk it. I've got enough other things break without causing new headaches.

Yeah, I've seen the 361 double dog and roller chain catcher kit, it's what I'm using now. But still it's not much bigger than stock.

The 460 dogs had a similar problem with the case molding and wouldn't fit without some grinding work. Even after grinding, the inner and outer dogs wouldn't line up right so that was a bust.

Is the kit the chain catcher and dual dawgs? Do you have the P/N? Thanks!

No... but I had modified 660 dogs to fit on the 361 I had. Just to big for a puny 60cc saw... I might even still have them. If I find them... You can have them if you want them. I'll look for them tonight. But I think they defeat the purpose. You'll lose about 1 1/2 inches or more of bar length.

So I went with the dual dog kit with the ceramic catcher made for the 361.

The kits for the 361 and 441 are interchangeable. I installed the 361 roller catcher kit on my 441. There is a slight offset in the angle of the cover, so you will have to slot the holes on the outer dawg to line up perfectly. I chose to slot the roller hole, which resulted in a slight offset of the dawgs. Not a big issue, but looks a little funny. Unless you have some seriously thick bark, I don't think the big dawgs are worth losing bar length. The dual kit is really nice, especially if you noodle cut.
