    32" vid. 3 saws , 1 chain, big wood

32" oregon full skip. i was going to run this test with the 28" but figured big wood, big bar would be the way to go to see the difrence in these saws. you can definalty tell the 044 isnt ported

ported 372. widend intake and exhaust(transfers untouched), muffler modded base gasket dropped

    ported 440
first cut shes ever made just 4 strokeing, figured ill brake her in good. brand new meteor piston
widend intake and exhaust, transfer uppers widend and blended to intake, loweres hogged out the cylinder base. also dropped the cylinder gasket.

notice that the 440 cuts all the way through with the smaller dawg, while the 044 and 372 dont quite make it

10mm 044, muffler modded and base gasket dropped. everything else is stock. its even a stock mahle piston and cylinder.

i need to find a better way to hold my rds so i can make my cuts all the way through and get some actual times. the 440 and 372 to me felt about the same with the 044 maybe just slightly slower. all feel very close.

this chain has been sharpend about 5 times and is a round ground full skip oregon.

after these cuts i can tell you i do realy like the 372. the 440 is bad ass and my 044 is good old saw.

okay i just timed these cuts the best i could , 372 n 440(372 slightly faster) are kneck and kneck and the basicaly stock 044 is noticably slower even though i didnt quite finish the cut with it. where i did finish was still well behind the ported saws

anyone have cut times for the 390 and 660 in wood thats out to the bar tip[ or just past to compare these saws to. im getn 41 sec for the 372 and 42 for the 440. this is seasoned doug fir.

would the stock 90cc saws be 10 seconds faster then these ported 70cc saws. the 372 and 440 are 10 plus seconds faster then the 044

Great vids. Just gotta say my 394 would have made them 2/3 the length. Cutting that size wood calls for a big gun, I get bored sittin there waitng to get thru logs. JMO.
Evan with the 394 Brad built me (stocker) you would be holding on and that thing would be a handful. Fresh saw, non EPA, sharp chain with 36" B/C and tuned right, an animal.....

What kind of muffler mod do you have on the 372? In every vid you post of that saw it always sounds like it is running inside of a 55 gal barrel

I don't have a 32" bar, both saws have 28's, so this post may be worthless to you, but based on your vids I think my rebuilt bone stock 064 is slower than your ported saws.

I'd call the stock 650 a bit quicker though.
Work on the side with an 064 and a 650

The 650 cuts faster, the 064 don't get hung up so much

Im thinking a healthy 064 should out cut a stock 650 all day every day. It has better numbers and muffler.

    They're both stock.

And, it's more torquey, that's a fact, but for havin the same cc's at the 650 I was surprised to see how much more chain speed my 650 had. Same bars, same chains, the 650 will cut faster. I don't like fallin with it though, it gets hung easier.

Evan, did you do anything to the timing on those saws when you dropped the gasket.
My 372's will out cut a stock 395 with a 32" bar in doug fir using full skip and square ground.
There is a whole combination to optimize from your cutter profile and depth gauge to your chain speed to rpm to your power band to your cutting style.
I actually stuck a 7 tooth sprocket on today to see how I liked it in hard wood. Well unless I changed my chain to match it, it cuts slower than the 8 tooth. I could be more heavy handed with it but it cut slower and who wants to be heavy handed with their saw all day long?

My 064 will WALK from my 440, even if you got 25% from your proting it wouldnt hand with the 064, let alone the red light 66. I was making about 40 secound cuts in 36 inches of black oak.
