    16" bar.. too short?

Is there a practical use/ benefit to keeping a 16" bar for my new 372xp? I thought a 20" would be as short as I'd go, but it came with the 16. As it's still brand new should i keep it or not? Thanks,

That is a really short bar for that big of a saw.
    Husqvarna 390xp 32" bar
Stihl MS460 28" bar - milled and ported
    Stihl 031AV 18' bar - stock
Craftsman 42cc 16" bar - loaner with muffler mod
Poulan Pro 330 20" bar - needs work
Poulan Pro 330 22" bar - has a few mods

Perfect size. Great maneuverability and maximum cutting speed. I ran a 20" on my 394xp.

A short bar will use less power as you do not have to push or pull all that chain around the bar. A short bar uses a shorter chain...therefor faster sharpening times and a short bar will make make your saw more manuverable and you can control it better.

But the main factor to consider when you have a powerful saw that will handle bigger bars is what the average diameter of the trees you will be cutting. If you are cutting much over 32 in. dia trees then a larger bar should be considered.

Another factor to consider is your height...if you are 6' 6" tall , then you would probably be more comfortable with a longer bar but if you are 5' 6" tall ...you will appreciate the shorter bar.

    Good ta have ya here!!

    Congrats on the New 372!!!!!
Best saw ever made period..and don't let the Stihlheads bust on ya.

Hang onto that bar and get a 24" or 20" for GP.

Later, after you have been converted to a foaming at the mouth Saw weenie from hanging around here with these loons, you'll need that 16" bar for timed cookie cutting.

Seriously. Your dealer sold the thing with a 16" large mount bar?
    Wow!!!

If you aren't into porting and modding saws, one of the guys here would likely take that 16" off your hands reasonable.

    Stick around.

I just bought two of them for mine. I am 1/2 Norwegian though. Love mine with a 20", just about perfect. But I run a 25 on an 066...explosive.

Yep, I have a 24" on my MS660 mag most of the time. It's easy to have too much bar, hard to have too much power.

Never for work, only cutting cookies. I'd have a 24" on there.

Have a 201T that doesn't run like you expected? Need a new one that's already modded and ready to go? PM me for details.
