Empty the oil tank and leave it as is. The chain for the Lewis winch doesn't need to be oiled continuously. You oil it initially and then once every day or so, depending on how much you operate in the elements.
I would leave oil in the tank and turn the adjustment all the way down so not to burn up the oiler

There's enough residual in the oil passages and oiler hose in modern saws as to not burn the oil pump up. It's not as though a guy sets up a Lewis winch to yard logs all day long.
