    Poulan XXV Oiler

    I've replaced the check valve and gasket. Replaced the oil line. Blew some air through the "pump" to clear out the sludgy old oil. Re-assembled and still no oil. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Does the "pump" have any internal mechanics I may have messed up by blowing compressed air through it?

    If I am not mistaken I think the oil pump automatic that is, runs off of crank case pressure utilizing a diaphragm. May have ruptured it.

    Is your saw a Super that has a mechanical and manual oil pump or is it a Micro that has a pressurized oil tank ?

    if it is a micro,
    there is a sponge-like filter in the tank behind a $.25 sized cover that opens in to the clutch cover area.
    perhaps it is full of semi-hardened sludge?
    current wants:
    john deere 66sv clutch cover (it's a yellow echo 610evl).
    18" k041 poulan or k095 small mount husky bar 3/8 0.50
    a running homelite 3100.

    The saw is a micro.

    Volks, that is what it is. I checked out the foam filter and it is sopping up the oil like it is supposed to. Just to make sure I removed the foam filter and reinstalled the unit without the foam....still no oil at the bar.

    I think the "pump" is nothing more than the piece of foam inside plastic that allows the oil from the tank to be sucked in to the oil line by the pressue from the cylinder regulated by the check valve.

    The crankcase pressure pulses pressurize the oil tank and push the oil through the foam then trough the oil line to the bar.

    May sound silly but i have put some really loose stuff like 10 wt warm into old saws untill they picked it up and started oiling.maybe even like mineral oil to get it going ??
    just a thought.

    Per our PM earlier, if you say that you can see all the way through that pump body, I double checked myself and I was right in that there is another one way check valve in that pump.

    Take your mouth and suck on the barb on the back of the pump and if you can suck air through it then you have found your problem.

    It probably got blown out when you used the compressed air on it cleaning it.

    Here is the IPL that shows that part # I'ts probably NLA, but one shoudn't be hard to find. If you can't lrt me know and if I have a extra I can hook you up.

    No don't sound silly at all. I will alot of time run ATF in a older saw just being brought back to life. Oils and cleans at the same time.

    Is the check valve in the pump silver with a pin sized hole in it? Nothing came out when I used the air except for sludge.

    I'll have to try blowing in it again to see.
