Mine went from bogging pretty easily to cutting right on par with my dads 026 pro. It was noticable.

I might give it a muffler mod then, seems pretty choked-up right now...

turned out ok, but it's just weak. Boy does it need a chain!! This will free up some Wildthing money...

Golly for 42cc and a whipped chain it didn't seem that bad!

    great transformation...

Amazing what a little cleaning, tweaking, a few parts from the bin and a little TLC can do. Great thread and a great transformation! (I vote yes on sharpening or replacing the chain as well!). A few more touch ups and it would sell easily. Happy 4th of JULY!

On my 024 I modded the muffler, and I run Stihl RSC chain sharpened at 30 degrees corss angle, and a 5 degree upward angle (using a Granberg saw cain sharpener). I have alos found taking my drag links down to .035" has done wonders for this saw with a 16" bar.

So what did you do where the case was broken out at the anti-vibe?
I've got a bunch of good runners, so I'll not bother to list' em.. here's some active projects... more in mothballs

Near-term projects: Husqvarna 394, Stihl 066 red light, Stihl 044, 046, 038 mag II, HVA 359, Oh, a few 372s.... I LOVE those things! Just bought a 346xp wreck... gonna port the splat out of it... I'm excited!

Upgraded to a Jotul F500. Waaaay better!

Hey, I made a website... check it out:

It shows that I'm not very familiar with these saws, there wasn't anything critical broken. There was a little piece broke out of the left side of the case, just above where the front handle attaches to the bottom of the saw. I thought there was supposed to be another anti-vibe mount there, not so much as I have found out. I did a muffler mod on it last night but have not ran it yet, I'm gonna grab a new chisel chain for it tomorrow, then another test run....
