Thread: Full or Semi Chisel?

Since most of my cutting is storm damage and firewood for myself, would full or semi-chisel be more appropriate? I imagine full chisel would cut faster but require sharpening more often? Most of the wood I cut is clean and I'm pretty good at keeping it out of the dirt.

If you are cutting clean wood only use chisel.

SEMI CHISEL CUTS FINE. BUT IF U CAN KEEP IT O9UTTHE DIRT .. KEEP A FILE ON HAND.CHISEL

If you can file the square ground and keep it out of the dirt, then I would use it. It cuts faster, and should stay sharp just as long.

How much harder is square to file than the others? How often do you "dress" up your chain when you're using it - every tankful, or less often?

When I cut firewood away from the house, I take two saws. I hate to get far from the house and have only one saw and it craps out on me.
I run LG (round filed chisel) on the 372.
On my back up saw, I run semi-chisel.
Then I am ready for what ever type of logs I come across.
From what you described, i would use chisel
