Unhappy Shinny experts,345 ignition woes :(

    Nice 345 with spark problem..
pull side off and look..nothing i can see, unhook kill switch, saw starts rite up..
    leave untill next day like that,no spark,pull side off,check switch with meter,is fine. put back together,starts fine..next day,nothng !
pull cover, crimp connectors better, saws fires right up,next day nothing.
cut connectors off and solder wires together, fires off.. next day nothing !.
seems like all i have to do is pull the recoil cover off and LOOK at it,not even TOUCH anything, and will run..no,the cover is not touching anything,,,all the wiring looks new..does sound like a connection problem tho dont it ?? if everything didnt look so darn nice in there..
any common problem anybody knows of with these ?
    tnx..
the inside looks as good as the outside

That is a good looking Shinny!!! Are you sure that none of your cover bolts arent hitting a lead either? Your grounding lead on your coil have a good conection as well?

I'm definately no expert but I had a 500 with the same symptoms and it turned out to be the plug wire.

I got lucky with mine as it was right on the end. Snipped it off and put on a new boot.

It's always possible that the intermittent part is inside the module. I hope not for your sake because they're sometimes expensive but after you exhaust all other possibilities you might exchange your ignition module for a known good one and see if that's it.

I assumed your saw had an electronic ignition. If it already has, you couldn't use the unit. If it's got points you could, but it might not solve your problem if you have a bad coil or an intermittent wire. With the points eliminator kit you still use the original coil.

I looked into fixng a 345 with a bad module...all the ignition parts have been discontinued. I ended up giving it to Tri955.

I think the guy that gave it to me said it was a 36 inch saw.
I have know way to know. It looks like the blade part sticks out about 18.5" past the yellow part
