    Husky 262xp

I'm looking at buying a second saw for a back up and I've got my eye on a 262xp. However I have a few questions before I drop that kind of cash.
    1. This would be considered a pro saw, correct? Not a homeowner saw?
    2. I am guessing it has 62cc?
    3. Would it be an auto oiler or a manual oiler? Is the flow adjustable?
    4. What is a fair price for one in great condition? The one I'm looking at is about 6 hours away from my house and the guy says he will deliver it for $425 CDN. Is this a good deal? Thanks for any help.

They are a great saw and highly regarded Pro Class saw but that price is about double what I would pay for one and I have owned several.

Pro saw yes, one of the best 62cc saw made in that time frame, has an ideal power to weight ratio.

    Real close to 62cc's, yes.

    Auto oiler, yes. Adjustable too.

The price I'm not sure of because of the exchange rate. How much would that be in US currency?

In US currency a real clean one can bring up to $500., a comparable saw of that quality would be at least $650. today for a new one. That is $500. for a saw that is in near new condition. One that is good but has seen some use could fetch aorund $300.-$350. here.

You of course will have to post some photos if this works out. No?

You already have a 034 av Super, the 262 should run just a little better than the 034S but there won't be much difference (both are 60cc class saws). If I were to spend that kind of money I'd be looking at a larger class of saw ~75cc. Just my .02

61.5cc, like your 034AVS, but a much better saw - and yes, it is a pro saw!

That saw is about as close to a "factory hot-rod" as you can get, but it has a few features that I don't like - like the "plastic" clutch cover and the "flag" type brake handle. AV is not on par with newer Huskys, but probably better than anything else back in 1989, when it was introduced.

It you get a good one, the 034AVS soon will become the back-up saw!

Of course! I'd offer up the one I just took in, but you know how little I paid for it!

You have a really good point here. A modified 371/372XP would compliment the saw you already have quite nicely.

I edited the post, to tell you that.

Do you have the serial number and pictures of the saw? As others said, the price can be a bit high for an older used saw, if it isn't close to mint.

If it is a 1989, or ten years newer, also could be an indication.....

The ones that was made in Brazil, after 2001 or so, have a lower power spec than the originals, for some reason (that I don't know). Afaik, those have been sold in Israel, Russia, and other parts of Eastern Europe - but probably on more "third world" markets as well.

That's the best 60cc saw ever made. But that price is on the highest end you could pay for one. It better be in mint condition.

I've done a bit of looking for the actual years that the 262XP were made and haven't found anything solid. The chainsaw corner doesn't list the years.

Often it is said that it appeared in 1990, but the earliest serial number I have seen was from mid 1989.
It was replaced (sort of) by the 362xp in North America and West Europe in 1999. What happened elsewhere is another story!
