    Thanks to all that have posted up reference points, The gas boiling problem could that be solved with some sort of sheild?

    No not really it was a design issue esp on the metal cased saws. Echo tried moving the muffler around so it was on top of the oil tank for a shield and then they just went with the saws with the plastic tank liners. I have just lived with it for the last 35 years seems when i go to the woods i have more than one saw so i let one cool and use the other one...Bob

    Thats why most people wait until fall to cut wood everying runs better. The saws, our body seems like the colder air does us all good. That hot humid summer this year sucked for cutting...Bob

    Yes that is true really hot this year, I used to cut wood for myself but now i cut for mom's wood stove, and I only cut for my own lumber for building cabinets.

    I know that some Echo's had a little bit of that problem, but it never seemed to be that much of a problem for the ones that I had.

    I have personally seen many more Homelite models from that era have much more severe gas boiling problems.
