    The Oiler Thread

Hey guys, I know a lot of saws have different configurations with oilers, just figured I'd start a fun poll.

Haha, I made a mistake in it, I guess it posted the thread before everything was finished.

I used to only have saws with automatic, and thats fine, but it's always nice to give it a couple extra squishes just to be sure.

I've got an 084 with a manual oiler (overide) and I never use it. The thing oils so much already, I don't see the point of pouring more oil onto the wood, unless I want a better burning fire, LOL.

If your automatic oil is set correctly, then the manual deal is just one more thing to break or fail.

    My opinion,

I can understand and appreciate your perspective on it, but I look at it the other way around, I look at the automatic as something to break, the manual types are nearly failsafe in my opinion.

Well I can beat it by having an automatic that works and doesn't require me to use the manual button. I haven't ever used the manual oiler for actual work, I push it just to see if it works, but not that I have ever needed it.

When the high volume oilers work on my modded 441's and 660's, I don't wish I had a manual oiler on them, don't know what I would do with it, except wonder when I should push it or not to push it.

    Sam,

Like I said, I just like having one for whatever reason. I've become accustomed to saws that have it, and basically all of my runners have a manual override, except one.

On the other hand, I'm probably screwed up cause none of those saws have anti-vibe, chain brakes, mufflers or carbs that need modded and all of them were built atleast a dozen years before I was born.

When I need parts I usually need to stop at a couple of places and search online for them, sometimes on many occassions to find them.
