    Question Break In Advice

I installed a NOS p/c in a straight gassed 026 last night. Plan to start with 40:1 mix and slightly rich carb setting. How long before 50:1 and hard work?
    I would appreciate any advice?

    Thanks

Same here. And run it like your gonna use it. Not wide open for an extended period of time, but you need some heat to seat rings.

Choose an oil/gas ratio from 40-1 to 50-1 using a good name brand oil. Then run it like you normally run a saw. It will break in automatically without any babying. There is no need to think about seating rings, so don't obsess about any "break-in".

I usually run 50:1 either Stihl or Echo oil in 93 to 95 octane gas (blended from 87 octane and 110 octane racing gas). No ethanol. I have had no problems with this fuel sofar. But still think I will start with 40:1 for few tanks full, then go to 50:1 and retune. May open up the muffler a little later too.

I picked the straight gassed 026 up at an auction recently. Don't have much in it except the new P/C from Bailey's. Have a 16" and a 20" bar for it. The 16" balances best, but the 20" comes in handy some times.

My use is cutting oak & hedge firewood and clearing brush and farm fields around river and creek. I usually cut around 25 rick of firewood a year.

    Thanks

I let mine have a few heat cycles...then ran the snot out of it. If it blows...oh well it was a free saw anyway.
