I bought this model chainsaw#316.350840 (55cc 18") back in 2005. It has been a wonderful machine until now. The engine runs like a top and has never failed me.. I have not been able to locate my owners manual and I need a Bar and Chain Replacement. Sears has not been any help. They have sent me the wrong parts, they have told me the parts for the chain is obsolete so they have substitutes. They refer to the wrong size bar as well. I am plain frustrated. I just need the bar and chain. The part# for the chain listed on the saw is #36514. I can't find anyone who carries/makes this part number. Below are part # numbers that sears part rep had ordered for me (bar)#180SDET041 and (chain) 95VPX072G. I have attempted to return but have not got the return authorization numbers as promised in an email. I have spoke to over 5 people with sears parts department and still I have parts I cannot use & a chainsaw engine that is useless.
The bar turned out to be an Orgeon Replacement called Intenz91 Which looks like it will fit. However, the chain supplied will not follow the contour of the bar tip. The chain seems to have short chainlinks and not make it around the curve on the bar tip.
I have gone to the local H.I. store and found a chain and bar set(Oregon18") that appears to look like the one I have and tried it. However, when I try to put the bar on then the chain the chain seems like it is one link to short to go over the ever or around the clutch gear back at the motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have been half tempted to just go buy another Chainsaw and be done with sears. However, I know Poulan makes alot of 2cycle engines/equipment and put other brand names on them. So do I stear clear of poulan? This chainsaw is not that old and for me not able to get the bar and chain is crazy.
I have a limbs in my yard now for over a week now becuase of this.
Please, Please help.

Take it down to the dealer, the first thing to do is to ascertain if your chainsaw sprocket is 0.325 or 3/8 pitch, these are the two most common pitches, then all you will need to do is buy a bar and chain that fit on the bar studs and position the oiler hole of the bar in line with the oiler channel - a decent chainsaw service agent should be able to help.

The chain is probably right but the bar is probably wrong. Seems they gave you a 95VP chain which is a .325 pitch narrow kerf chain which must be used with a narrow kerf bar. The bar they gave you is for a 3/8's LP chain which will not work (as you found out already) with a .325 pitch chain.

I don't know that much about this model Sears saw but from the model number you gave it is not Poulan built. I believe that it is a Jeng Feng Taiwan made saw. The black 55cc model that got Sears in trouble (they were recalled off the shelves) for selling as they were not approved and would not meet the current EPA standards.

There should be a bar and chain out there to fit without much trouble though, I just don't know what mount bar that it uses.

Can you post a picture of the mount end of the bar?
