    Tried both and I think the Champ came out on top...

    in some 28" ash against the 038 Super. I think the Super needed the chain touched up and it was doggy when I hit the throttle. Well sharpened both chains and retuned the Stihl today and going after a 45" hybrid popular in a bit. Also still trying to decide between the Stihl 038 Super($100), Jonsered 670 Champ($100), and the new Makita 6401($130)? Got them all cheap and thinking of putting the OEM 7900 top end and HD filter on the 6401 and then have a two of the same for parts and maintenance reasons. Selling on of the other two and the other goes to my brother.

    At least keep the 670 Champ, as it is a historically interesting model!
    It also should have the most power, but not with a big margin over the Dolmar....


    In fact I would have kept all, at the money involved in them........

    I'd keep all three. Run the 6401 as a primary work saw since it's a current production saw, the 670, and 038
    are neat old saws to take out and run for fun.

    Well it seemed the Champ still has it, it smoked the Stihl!!! would love to run a 7901 to see what i could do with it but don,t have one yet....
