I would try to clean up the cylinder on it with a little muriatic acid and elbow grease with some emory cloth or sandpaper. A piston should be cheaper than the big bore kit. It should be a good runner close to a dolmar 7900 or stihl 460.

Yeah but they need goofy looking muffler mods to run well.

Great deal. Snag it and try to save the cylinder. OEM is the way to go! Bailey's would be the best place to get OEM parts from too.
Now a sponsor!!! Selling used Husky and Stihl parts. Have limited parts of other brands. PM me with your needs.

Saws for sale: Stihl MS460 Stihl 046, Poulan Pro 46cc, Poulan 3800, Husky 455, Husky 44, Jonsered 450, Shindaiwa 757. PM for details and prices.

    Wait.

Someone got paid $60 to straight gas someone else's saw...?

    Nah that can't be it.

I got it I got it. The owner was paid $60 to straight gas his own saw....

No matter what anecdote I use it just seems like a really weird scenario to straight gas a saw for $60 but hey, I guess if neither paid for or owned the saw then the guy getting paid just profited three twenty's. Sweet. Then again the guy paying the $60 is now out three twenty's. And if he's the original owner he's out even more money. But since he's using straight gas he prolly saved some money on two stroke. But if the owner didn't do it then the straight gasser had to use their own straight gas an they actually didn't profit a full $60. Either way, I wish someone would pay me $60 to straight gas each one of their saws I'd be frikkin' rich.

But there's one thing I don't get. How did the owner know that the guy who straight gassed the saw got paid $60 to do so. Sounds a little fishy to me. I wouldn't trust this guy. It's prolly not even a guy. You should have asked him to show you his junk and I guarantee there woulda been a va-jay-jay down there. Can't trust a tranny dude. Can't trust a tranny....

By the way how much did you pay for the saw.

Give me the contact info and I'll tell you how it runs after I get it.

No seriously run , drive , take a boat, or get a private jet whatever it takes to get the saw before someone else does. And if I where you I would look into a 272 piston swap Meteor $30 much wider skirts. Clean up OEM cylinder if you can. Now that being said there is no problem with the BB kit Idea I have wanted to try this combo ever since I built a Makita BB that I ported myself that saw actually ran just as good or better than my Professional ported 79cc OEM P&C Makita and had more torque the guy that I sold it to is running a 32" bar & chain combo right now and loves it. The only 3 things that I suggest is put a Caber ring for a 385xp or a 660 54mm x 1.2mm, use the OEM C-clips, and Use the kit from Northwood saws they are also the place to by the ring and or the 272 piston if you decide to go that way. But I will tell you what you buy the saw and if you don't like it let me know I own a 681 and love it I would be willing to give you $150 dollars right now for it untouched. I am looking for a Solo 665,675,or a 681 with a good crank if anyone hears anything. I am going to build the ultimate work saw out of a Dolkita saw with Heavy duty crank bearings and a Solo crank and I would like to try the BB top end on the saw first mainly because the Dolmar case has 3cc's more case volume than a Solo so 38mm stroke and a 54mm bore witha Walbro HD-12 carb and the same porting that was done to my original BB Makita I think it would scream feed me I also would try a OEM top end. So if any one sees or knows of a smashed or blown up Solo in the 681 family please let me know. Thanks to all.

...but heavier, as the weight specs aren't even close to true.

    Yeah Niko you're absolutely right.....

    BUT!

You barely notice the extra junk in the trunk when ya run one. The softer springs make it "feel" heavier too. Makes it feel real lunky. Throw 7900 spring on'er and have that pig ported and you'll say "What weight specs....??".

I have heard about those "sloppy" springs several times before, so I assume you aren't the only one that feel they are too weak.
