    Please help identify this Stihl part

    I have an 041 AV on the bench, it was a barn find. As I was tearing it down, this part fell out of the fuel tank. Sorry the pics are not so great. I have the PDF spec diagrams, but I don't see where it even belongs to this saw?? I thought maybe its a part belonging to the oilier but it's not looking like it. A mystery I hope someone can solve before this saw goes back together. TIA

    It goes on the bottom side of the fuel cap and helps keep the internal
    parts for the vent in the fuel cap together. It just snaps into place.

    Wow! Thanks alot Jacob, it all makes sense. It looks like something might be broke off of it too. I'll check this out later. I hope this one will snap back in and not need a whole cap. Thanks again.

    The cap will still function fines without that piece. They come off a lot because they also
    hold the chain and cap retainer which keeps the cap hooked to the tank. There's tens of
    thousands of saws out there running without that piece.
    Where saws go to die...
