dave neigers work on my olympyc 962..

i had a visit from dave and ask him to take my saw up an do his thing,, to it..the saw i sent up was a saw i was proud of,good cutting work saw..
the saw i got back well. what can i say. ill not post the rpm it cuts at,,cause somebody mite try their saw at that setting an blow it up..
but at that phenominal rpm,,it holds its torque. it runs very cool at this setting so the man definitely knows how to get the most out of an work saw..
dont care what anybody says i aint never running 50-1 in this thing..
its 32-1 synthetic.i add that cause theres been some discussion about that issue.
now boys im not gonna argue that he or dan are better than other modifyers .. thats not my point.. the point is ,i sent a work saw up to be modified.i got one back that was shonuff modified as ----..my goal is to let other folk that are thinking about having a work saw modified, know.. you would do well to let him do it.. i can also recommend dans work..if you dont know dave ,contact me an ill put u in touch..
im not sure if dave wants a whole lotto work or not.. but if he does u saw,i can just about guarantee. you are gonna be pleased.darin i post this as an effort to help fello site mmbers. thats my sole motivation, that an to give credit where its due. thanks so much dave. u really came thru..tony

    Tony,

What you've said about the work done to your 962 by Dave is great to hear. How does it compare to your other saws? I`m always interested to hear of smaller modified saws that will hang with the bigger boys.

Have you run it against your 372? I know that may not seem like a fair comparison but sometimes you never know until you run them side by side with the same bar and chain, if possible. If captured via digital video the times can be accurately compared.

I just ran an ms260 against a 372 last week and looking at the video shows it to be within half a second of the 372 in some nice beech. As soon as I get the video shortened I`ll post it here at AS.

hey russ.. sounds like you got one heckova 026. whew.
i want compare the saws as it apples to oranges.. the two men who modified my saws, do different work .. each having there strong points..
i would say any weakness is on the users pt.. im working these saws or plan to.
so i think im gonna stay with 7 pin and mabe even round chisel sharpening..[my square chisel chain leaves a bit to be desired lol]
i know i can do that fairly well.. im not just after just speed .. im after hard work output, from a work saw.. imo leave the timed cuts to others.. but i do feel i had one heckofa work saw delivered on the brown truck today..couldnt be more satisfied and can recommend daves work to anybody.. also dans..

yea macman ,and you suppose to have sent it back to me after the competition. lol..
now lets get it strait.. theres many fellas on here interested in gaining a 10th
of a second.. thats their thing ,and i like to read their post..
theirs lots of others that just want a saw that saves their back and works hard as thye do..im in that category.. thats not knocking anybody.. john for instance probably has 10 times more time in with a saw than myself..,since hes a logger..
me i do removals occasionally, clean ups and use to do some climbimg..
this and firewood is my experience..now if you wont to think less of me or my saws because of that ..thats your perogative.. dont think that ll matter a bit tommorrow when im out trying to scavenge up a ld of firewood for my daughter.in short fellas if you are of that mind ,i dont give ,not even a tiny dam what you think..no hard feelings but it just dont matter to me..
dave did send me one real improved work saw ,and like i said ,id encourage anybody who just wants you saw to work a lot better ,to contact him..
i will say i kinda lose respect for those that show their hand only if its made easy ,because they think the crowd is withum..that aint a hard thing to do .
just shows a weakness. but nobodies perfect,an im pretty tolerant of folk ,different than myself.. now i dont think darin wants an ugly post on his forum
so you men will understand if i dont bother answering .. theys some men on here, and i mean men,, will understand where im coming from.hope all of you have an ace day tommorrow. tony

    pics&vids

But I don't have any pics&vids of saws I run over or dropped trees on but I hear tell some folks done a lot of that this past year. but I'll take your word some of your saws met with an early end from the crush tests you put them through and you long to see pics of saws that are still running. Think of it, you're just building an inventory of parts of saws for later.

So who here does the best porting on macs? I still have my 1-71 down, waiting to get the cash together to have it welded. While I have it down I'd just as well have it ported.
