We all started some where. I agree they should have better guys than that working on customers stuff. But give them a chance. If they care any about there customers they'll make it right.

You could get a job in Virginia. I hear they need a service tech at a shop there. If not that they might need a greeter to smooth out the p*ssed people going in and out the door.

Actually, Stihl sent me a job offer when they heard about my foolproof seal removal technique.

While the thing is set up for the leakdown test, just supply the crankcase with 150 lbs. of shop air...........

    Update

I just got back from the dealer. After an hour long conversation I won't get into the details at least not yet. The manager has offered a new crankcase and labor to fix everything correctly. He has to talk to the owner to get approval and promised to call me later today. If this comes to pass I will be satisfied. I told him I didn't want to get the tech in trouble but some training was definately in order. More later.

Cool. Keep it calm and collected as long as you have the upper hand, and nobody tries to play cutsie games.

The option to escalate and go full blown unreasonable is there if needed, and is actually more effective when it comes as a surprise.

Don't wait much past 1300 before calling and asking if you missed thier call though.

As for the tech, he dosn't need a simple de-cert/re-cert. The boy needs to be somewhere else, other than where he can finger your equipment if you bring anything in later on. He's not going to be happy with you either way this goes and something to keep in mind.

    Stay safe!

That sounds promising except for one thing. Who is going to install the new crankcase? I would be a little leary of letting the first tech have a go at that kind of job.

The original tech will not be touching that saw. He works at the 2nd location. I took the saw to the main store this morning. I spoke to the tech there and he has 20 plus years of experience and was less than impressed with the first "fix".

Just got the call. New crankcase will be in Tuesday. I'm not happy but I'm satisfied with this. Lots of unecessary running around and aggrivation, but the management have been reasonable to deal with so far.
