A friend dropped off a Stihl 019T to see if I could figure out what is going on with it. The volume of oil it is supplying to the bar has dropped off over the last little while and it now does not oil at all. I know, PITA to work on. The first thing I did was clean out the oil tank with white spirits, I flushed it several times. Then I replaced the oil pickup filter. Still did not oil.
Next, I removeed the clutch and checked the worm wheel and the worm wheel rod, tiny bit of wear on the outermost edge of the rod that fits into the clutch drum but not worn suffeciently as to not engage with the notch in the clutch drum worm threads not worn at all. I replaced it anyway. Cleaned out the access to the oil pump shaft as there was enough stuff in there that perhaps was causing a problem. Saw still not oiling. Oil pump shaft moves smoothly with no binding in the least.
Not looking forward to tearing the thing completely apart!!! So if anybody has any helpful ideas please let me know.
