That chain can be disposed of, unless you want to save it for a nasty stump. Those saws all use Oregon 91-series chain, which is 3/8" Lo-Pro, 0.050" chain, but that loop is the really junky skip chain that only seems to ship on saws from the factory. The replacement loops you can get anywhere at least have all the cutters, and from what I've seen they don't seem to have the shark fin bumper ties anymore, but ramped drive links instead. You can buy non-safety versions of Oregon or Woodland Pro at Bailey's.

Put a decent loop of chain on it, maybe do a muffler mod ( Muffler Mod for 42cc Craftsman ), tune it and give it a try. You may find it to be a decent saw.

Stop it Woodheatwarrior,I had no intention to do anything with this plastic saw other than set the screws, maybe a bar and chain at the most and let it go.If you keep talking this way, you're going to force me to take it apart just for kicks and have a go at it. I wonder what the ports look like........

i have dropped the chain off the bar a bunch of times. if the saw gets piched at all and i pull it out, it will take all the tension out of the chain and it jumps right off. i want to get another side cover or modify it but refuse to drop any coin on the saw.
I'm lucky with this one as it has a place for a conventional adjuster molded into the cover so it will be no big deal gearing it up,I've likely got a few floating around here.

My understanding is you can use the Oregon Intenz/Craftsman E-Z Adjust bars with a standard tensioner. I hope so since there were some in the stack of NOS Craftsman bars that I recently bought.
Never underestimate the power of the written word. Spelling is important, but poor sentence structure and bad puncuation are what can really come back to bite you on the ass.

I will take the "Pullon," "green brick," and "Crapsman" chainsaws that you don't want.

Human trash comes in all colors, including white.

You could as the holes are in the bar for the standard adjuster pin.

Nice job on the mod,my muffler is identical. The exhaust exit probably has the volume of 1.5 x the butt end of a ball point pen.Add the aluminum deflector to that and the poor thing can hardly breathe.I like the idea of the internal spark arrestor screen that wraps the baffles and I'm going to leave it in place.I like what you've done but I think I'll modify the baffles a little differently as well as the outlets as I'm not concerned about noise where I'll be using it.Maybe pea-shooter outlets or something.
On another note, the hunk of foam air filter that just sits there allowing dirt to pass by it is pretty hokey.I think I'll do something with that as well.

If you soak 'em in oil properly they actually work pretty well. Make sure to squeeze it out well or it chokes the intake. I don't get much stuff going past it.

Well,I'm currently doing a bit of a retainer for the airfilter as well as a muffler mod.I had a peek inside with a boroscope and see not much to gained but lots to be lost port wise-besides,they are remarkably clean and free from flashing or casting flaws so I'll leave that alone.More importantly, the give away Chinese Homelite has just bore me the first of the two oldie trades-I'd call it even right there.....

I always liked the Macs. The Model is 6000014 and the Serial is 13-16069

Going by Mike Acres site,I would say it's a 77-82 Pro-Mac 10-10.It looks reasonably close colour wise and the model jives though it says the serial prefix is is 11 or 12 and mine is 13-maybe a late model?
I'll assume that's it unless someone can tell me different.Regardless,I like it.

    More than even trade.

I'd give some boot to trade my 33cc Bandit for a Mac 10-10.

Even better, with a couple hours frigging, she's a runner. : ,albeit a loud one.Whatever used to be there for a muffler is long gone.
