Thank you Bluefish, this is a 1 1/2 month part-time project.
The hardiest part on this project was the recoil cover. The previous owner put wrong bolt size for the recoil cover. The threads was unusable. To correct it, i was able to find 1/4 bolt with hex head. It's now VERY solid. The rope broke and the recoil spring too! ( i think the recoil assembly are possessed by deamon.. )
nice job on the saw, worth saving that's for sure. should last another 20 years++
I decide to sell it on the bay
I make some videos

Sad ending.
I would take a 154se over an MS260 any day.
Maybe you'll find another someday...

FETT, sir I though that I should mention that a lot of members put a very stout effort in assisting you with your saw. This particular model is twice the machine that you have now acquired.Looking forward I suspect that sometime in the future you will say, "I should have listened" I hope that you are happy with your newer saw, Ken
I don't know why to think the 154se are twice my new ms260. I mainly find negative things about this old saw:
-hard to find parts ( really hard sometimes, i need to buy it from a online reseller in the USA )
-Parts broke more often
-Antivibe are ugly
-RPM are not so good
-Chainsaw drink more gaz
-Chain and bar and hard to find
-This particular model are very heavy
- I don't feel in security when i cut with these saw ( probably mental )
and i can surely continue 2-3 pages like this. As a exemple, i think its like to decide to buy a old mustang 1969 or the last year model. YES, its not the same feeling, but its a smarter choice for every day driving.
Oh, now the positive side of the husqvarna 154se
-a real workhorse
-vrrrroouuummm, like no other one
-the look are impressive, one of my favorite
-when you cut something, it cut.
heheh, btw, i tend to restore 1 or 2 saw per month and my wife will not let me collect it. I need to sell it.
I wonder if i cannot start to take command from guys who want a cleanup/restore but without do it himself. I think about it. I took maybe 15-20 hour to clean it and restore it... But, the saw are REALLY clean!
Now its time to work on my new project !

FETTT, I may have been out of line on my last post.I simply felt that several members went out of their way to assist you.As to the saw, the 154 has a high standing amongst this crowd.True it is a bit heavier, but I will attribute this mainly to quality construction over plastic.Gas consumption well this is from the technology when the saw was made. 85 I believe. The RPM is in the 9k range. Not a high winder but it has gobs of torque. The bar and chain should be available at any Husk dealer.
In conclusion I hope your MS gives you as good service as the 154 would have, Ken
Thank you for your positive comment. I really appreciate![]()
