Porting is not about increasing the cc count, but modifying the porting, to get more power out of the existant ones.....

I agree with Cisco that in any wood big or small hard or soft that the Sthl will cut consistant. Lots more forgiving in the powerband. My 044 cuts the same weather it's ash, hedge, locust, walnut, etc. and it never bogs even when buried with a 25" bar. Husky a little different story, seems you have to coddle it in certain wood. (just my expierence) And I will probably be still using the same 044 with no probems another 7-9 yrs from now. ( it is about 7 yrs. old now.) I guess I just like a saw that as soon as you get it, it runs great and cuts great and will last. Alright you can kick my a@% now.

Not going to neg ya for speaking you're mind, but I am going to disect this post a bit.

There is no doubt of the greatness of the 372, and yes, it should be compared to the 440 or the 7300, but the 7900 cost the same, or cheaper, and weighs the same, so thats a moot point, isn't it?

Now the Big Bore kit, if you followed me at all, a BB 460 is what I have wanted all along (same as a Husky 353, I got the 346 instead) I wanted the power of the 660 without the weight. My dealer quoted me (I believe) $850 for the 460 and $1032 for the 660. My saw was used (very) and rough around the edges. It was offerd to me me two ways, and when I was told what it would cost withe the BB kit, I jummped all over it!! I got that saw for considerbly less that what I could have bought a new 460 for!! So when I say buy a saw for a BB kit, I guess I need to be more specific, find a used one and update it. That keps it affordable. I could have bought my saw as was for around $400 shipped to my door, deals are out there.

On the Husky line up, I would buy a 50cc Husky long before I bought a Stihl in the same class. But, with the 5100, that seems to be another moot point!

I don't have any idea of the longevityof the Dolmars, the older stuff seems o be holing up fine, I am more concerned about the dealers backing out again and geting parts for them.

Good post redneck. You were SRN in short, that I was refering to in the 1st page. Show them the 2 vids of your BB046.

The BB kit comes out right at 5ci, I forget how many cc's that is, but it should be around 82.

i'm running the 8 tooth on the 28 inch bar, and cut the rakers back to .030, and she runs sweet.

with the 7 tooth, i had to grind the rakers off entirely (unsafe), or put about 100 pounds of down pressure on the saw to get it to work the engine properly.

otherwise she just bounced along on the rev limiter......

I never herd of such a thing. 7 tooth runs the chain slower and your chain does not good enough untill you take the rakers off.
