Thread: 254 problems

i wonder if anybody can help me. i have just rebuilt a husky 254. everything went well untill i pulled it. it fired once and that was it i checked the saw over again and still nothing. since then i have tried 2 different carbs on it the pot,piston and rings have been changed, as well as the breather pipe. i know the tank and petrol pipes are sealed and new.so any ideas on this would be great.

Hmm, got compression even with the new piston?If you have spark and gas,she should start.Maybe you can try this,remove the spark,be sure you have spark,if yes then add few drops of fuel by the spark hole.Put the spark back and crank it.If she wont start,looks like piston is bad or ring.Are you sure your base gasket is correctly ,there is one way to install it.

Check the gasket on the carb block to make sure the vaccum hole is open also.
