    272xp or 2171

I am in the market for a new and bigger saw. I am wanting someting that will handle a 24" bar with ease . I have heard nothing but great things spoke of the 272xp but however my neighber down the road is a jonsered dealer . My ? is the 272xp and Jonsered 2171 same saw with different cosmetics.

Te 372XP (not the 272XP) and the 2171 are essentially the same saw,

Cosmetics and handlebar angle...the Jonsered is at a right angle to the bar, and the Husky is angled NW to SE (bar is north).

Some Phillistine here named SawTroll will try to tell you otherwise , but the Jonsered right angle is superior!!

The 272XP is no longer available (except maybe in south america or something). As said before the 2171 is the same as a 372XP, but with staight top handle, and the smaller air filter. I have a 2171 and love it.

The 272 and 2171 are different generation saws. The 2171 being the newest. They have completely different engine build, different anti vibes, carb, etc. The 2171 or 2172 are the mirror of 371 or 372 saws.So dont worry, they are excellent saws, even if they dont have the right color ...Lol

372xp has a superior handlebar angle to the 2171 - forget the 272xp.

I have fell many trees with both saws, wrap handles of course, and have never noticed a "problem" with the handle on the 2171 I have now. The 2171 is great saw, same as the 372, shares many of the same parts.

Then of course the 2171 has some advantages over the 372 Looks and cover design.

    272xp

I've never used a 372XP, but I bought a nice used 272XP just a few months ago and I am very pleased with it. Granted, it's the daddy (or grand-daddy) of 372, it's probably a bit heavier and bit less powerful, but it's still a very competent saw. Looots of POWER in that thing!!! I've had my 272 almost completely apart and I admire its simple, proven, 0 BS design. After 15 or so years of use, the saw just keeps going and going, and I am hoping it will last me a long time to come...

If I were you, and if I had the money to buy a 372XP, I'd definitely do it, especially since it's unclear how long Husqvarna will keep producing it. I've never heard anyone say a bad word about this model - everyone seems to love it. But still, keep in mind that for only $250, $300 you could buy a good used 272XP that could do the same job.

    just my 2 cents...
