Thread: 036 muffler mod update and conclusions

Cut 2 transit pick up loads of wood today with the 036 i recon i did the job in half the time it used to take with the 025.
when using the 036 before the mod i didnt think it cut much faster than the 455 rancher! a little but not a huge amount.
now after the mod its a huge difference it really came alive 1/3 faster maybe!
i can push like a madman on the saw now!
when i bought the saw i was told it was a 20" bar checked today and its a 18" DUH
dont let anyone tell you a muffler mod is no good on a uk spec saw they are WRONG!

To keep this on thread - Good to hear the muffler mod worked. I will be doing a few in the near future (MS260, MS361, MS660).

Now Off Thread - You sure do cut up short little pieces of wood over there! I cut wood 24" long if it needs splitting and 36" long if it doesn't - I use it in an outdoor boiler with a 40" deep firebox.

Yep have to agree the boss's wood burner will only fit a 14" stick!!! so we aim for 9" to 12"! some slices we take off 3' diameter i cut at 6" or so as its heavy enough also we split with an axe so anything with knots is cut thin also
Im self employed and provide saws but i aint buying wedges/wood grenade and he is too tight to hire a splitter lol

Thanks for the feedback on the muffler mod. As you know, I contacted you to ask questions about it and now I get more feedback... enough to know i'll be doing it to my 036 Pros!

Ahh the trick to splitting is have a buddy doing it inside in the dry while im out in the rain!
some of the blocks are fully cut up with the saw as they are unsplitable, if thats a word lol
cutting with the 025 he can match me block for block but i swamped him with the 036. Which was a good thing as it was snowing sleeting raining and howling a gale today, So we both split inside. Fingers crossed for more trees down!!!!

i prefer to cut everything into cookies or blocks and waste lots of fuel and burn up chains.
