Super nice find. Oh I have found that Worth brand glass cleaner works Very well on cleaning old crud off the saw and bar. (I know it sounds crazy but I tried brake parts cleaner, and wd40 and spray glass cleaner worked much better)
Good luck with the great saw. Wood.....

To build on an earlier question

Are there really only the three obvious pieces of fuel line?

    The tank vent

The line from tank to carb

The line from base of head to oil resevoir?

They were the only things that were corroded. Besides that, seems good to go.

[QUOTE=Griffbm3;897449]So I was checking the State of CT website for surplus and noticed that they were having an auction this past Saturday. When I looked at the listing there was a picture of what looked like an old 090. I went to the pre-auction, and sure enough, there was an 090G with a 5 foot bar with a helper handle on it.

The muffler looked new, and the saw simply looked dirty. I bid on it the next day and won. Today I have simply cleaned it up, not that much detail yet as I have to replace the gas lines, although it runs and starts on the second pull.

The compression reading was just over 160psi, and the handle doesn't show any wear. After reading Andy's post about a resurrection, I thought I would share some of the pictures of this as well, although, I am not tearing it down at all since it's all original, and truly in great shape.

The brass plate next to the Stihl sign is the State of CT asset number.

Enjoy the pics, and thank for the chainsaw disease./QUOTE]

No scabbard?? The crooks. Seriously, that's a nice unit there. Isn't it fun to find old Stihls like this at yard sales and auctions?

While looking at the bottom of the crankcase going over to the oil tank there is a line as well. Is that an impulse line feeding the oiler? That one is cracked as well.

Yes - and on pretty much every saw I have come across (070s and an 090) it has been cracked. That's a really good find - well done - and you'll forget what you paid for it very quickly.

    Thank you for the replys

Thanks again everyone, I was wondering if anyone had the IPL for this in PDF form that could forward it on??? It's funny, this particular saw has brought out my entire neighborhood during this early thaw to come and talk about this saw. Found out one of my neighbors was a logger back in the day and now deals wholesale plywood. Quite the conversation piece, can't wait to use it.

    Thanks again guys,
    Jason

    A couple of after photos

So in my quest to figure out what to do with this saw I am thinking I should probably sell it. But who knows, my horrible case of CAD might prevail and prevent me from getting rid of it. Here are some more pictures since the cleanup. The 60" shiny bar does look cool all polished up, but I have nowhere to take its picture inside. Besides, the wife has given me about 10 minutes to take the pictures... Enjoy, and thanks for all the advice guys.

Very nice find! Gonna get you a gift certificate for marriage counseling from Cisco! 10 minutes to take saw pictures? How can an artist work under such pressure?

Glad to see somebody gets some good deals, my luck's just not that good.
