I've seen it used a few times around here. I'm a newbie and was wondering what it meant. I think it has something to do with a collection of chainsaws. Does it stand for something?

Or Chainsaw Acquisition Disease . Hurry run like hell before you catch it! It's very contagious around here.:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange: :givebeer:

+1

I was happy owning one saw and didn't see the need for more. Then I came here. Now my shopping list is up to about 8 saws.....:censored: Let's see... we need two for climbing (one is back-up), two for limbing, two for light cutting, two felling and bucking.... and the list goes on.

I have dreams sometimes about winning the lotto and spending it all on saws...

Chainsaw Acquisition Disorder.

It's a mental disorder. The patient lacks the ability to realise that he already has enough chainsaws. So the disorder essentially overrides the logic functions of the brain.

The upside is that the patient also gets bouts of euphoric pleasure everytime he acquires a, new to him, saw (regardless of condition or value) or even saw related item. As an example buying a flywheel puller can be compared to a normal person getting his rocks off.

Hahaha. I got to buy a new chain last week and got really excited. No one could understand why I was so happy about a chain....

And, isn't it odd how a trip to the dealer for a $25 chain often turns into a $75 purchase by the time you leave....

Is Stihl making their chain out of gold and diamonds with glitter all over it? Must be some pretty fancy packaging.

No, no glitter. And I was mistaken. It was only $22.....:monkey:

They are nice and pretty when they're new though!!

It's like this saw #1 Thanksgiving 2007 359

359 now a 359EHP, then 346xpne, then 372xp, then 5100s, then ms460 off Craigslist, then another 359 off Craigslist, then 6401 now a 7901, then ms361 "just in case of cancer", then a "Wild Thing" Mint Condition "oxymoron" $20.00 off Craigslist. Prank saw for a friend. I have been on Bailey's eye balling a 390xp."Can Pick it up." I'm fighting it. Why? I'm not sure. LMAO...... I know I don't need this many chainsaws. But hey, I have had worse habits. To me this is a good habit!!! I spent all my money on expensive beer and cheap women and I wasted the rest.

CAD BABY...... It's a wonderful thing......

That pretty much explains it right there.:greenchainsaw:

I've been on here since November and I went from 1 to 4 chainsaws in that time. I'm still looking for an 066/660 project, that should round out my collection nicely. Stihl 012 (freebie), MS250 (got run over by a truck, new handle and trigger but free), 026 (freebie), 044 (about 275$ invested so far, and almost done)

To me there are really two forms of CAD. I don't currently have either but I am lusting after a couple of different saws currently.

#1-The guys on here that have a laundry list of saws but use them to make money or save a lot of money on heating costs. (Not really dangerous CAD because they have some income/savings coming back to them as a direct result of owning chainsaws)

#2-The guys on here that have a laundry list of saws that have no purpose for them other than to cut wood for other people because they do not make a living with their saws and they don't heat with wood. (A much more dangerous form of CAD, in my mind.)

CAD limitations

best way to help prevent CAD!

1. be married to a woman who pinches pennies so much she can squeeze snot out of lincon's nose on a penny.

2.be broke and homeless

What is CAD

I was given a 280e echo, needed a few parts. I found a parts saw for 5 bucks. Both saws ran well after some minor repairs so i bought another one on ebay, it ran also. To make along story short, I now have 5 280e's and I have no real need for them. That's cad.
