    Unreliable...the saw is at least 25 years old. That is a pretty good run for anything with an engine.

    Depends on your objective. If you want to make money, and if your time is worth more than a minimum wage, very few saw projects will pay. If you just want to dinker with your tools and maybe break even, then go ahead. But, you've already priced running 028's on ebay, you've already sourced parts, and you've already contemplated costs? Sounds like you're not wanting advice, but rather some enabling justifications.

    A lot would depend on the model of 028.
    The Super would definately be worth fixing. They bring BIG dollars. The straight 028 would probably part out much higher than it would bring running good. My2

    Hey PB ; I have picked up and kept 4 of the 028`s this past year and they all work really good after porting and muffler modding three of them,one is a Super and it definitely cuts faster than the regular 028 electronics. I kept one stock because it was next to brand new,original senior owner says he only ran 3 tanks of gas through it but was giving up burning wood and sold it to me for $80.00. I have not paid more than $100. for one yet but would not sell any of them for less than $200. not that I want to sell them yet.
    You could sell the one you are talking about on this thread but you will not make money but you could fix it and keep it and work it even if its not red and black. LOL.
