    New Still Won't Start

Santa brought me a Stihl MS-310 but I can't get it to start. Instead it just leaks fuel out the front. I can take it to a dealer tomorrow but I'd rather use it today. Any advice? I am a newbie so don't assume I have done the obvious! Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

Sounds like you flooded the saw.
Pull the spark plug and blow out the cylinder with air. If not available then let it dry on its own.
After dry, sqeeze trigger and push control lever down to choke. Pull twice then push lever up one notch. Should crank and then go cut.

I like your attitude. Do what Just Mow said. Sounds like you just need to learn the proper starting method. Other option is after you get the gas out, then reinstall the plug. Push lever just one notch down. Hold the trigger in while pulling like crazy. It will start. BTW, I bet you'll be shocked at how much gas pours out that plug hole.

Once its flooded the best way to clear the motor of excess fuel is to pull the spark plug out, turn the run switch off (to eliminate spark) and pull the recoil several times. Your looking for straight gas to come out of the cylinder head where you removed to spark plug. Pull it 10 15 times to "clear" the motor. Reinstall the plug and boot, turn switch on, hold throttle wide open and pull recoil until saw fires and runs. This will start a flooded saw.

    Fired Up!

Indeed I must have flooded it. All is good now. I followed the "real" advice" and it worked. Thanks for your help.

I hope it's not "straight" gas coming out, but properly mixed gas.
