    husqvarna Bar oil?

I ran out of stihl bar oil last week, The local Husky dealer had Husqvarna bar oil for $15.35 gallon. I bought one gallon cause I was in a hurry.. Now I went to Lowes last night and they have it for $10.18 Gallon. Is it the same stuff? Is there any reason to not use it compared to Buying Stihl oil for $15 a gallon.

Serves the same function as any bar oil. For $5 a gallon difference all the special tackifiers in Stihl won't make a difference. They are not the same oil, but it is just as good.

Small shops dont buy bulk amounts of oil like lowes does. You get a big price break if you order more than 4 pallets of oil. Most shops dont have enough room for that much bar oil let alone mix oil also.

All 3 employees at the small shop were sitting around doing nothing, They offered to wash my car just for some sort of work. I didn't mind spending the extra 5 bucks to help out the local guy. Now that I am at Lowes alot I would prolly just buy it there if it is good to use.

I think that bar oil is overated, if you buy stihl oil you are just paying for the name on the jug, i use the cheap poulan bar oil in the green jug from walmart , it's only 7.99 a gallon, sticky as hell but the Dolmars don't mind, but it is too thick for my ms250 when it is below 20 degrees, but i rarely use that saw anyway.

Stihl sells a winter grade bar oil.

I happen to believe that there is a difference in bar oil, ijn order I will run...

    Stihl,

    Husky,

    Fleet Farm Tractor supply,

Power Blend, or most any other brand,

And I would only use the Green-jugged Wally-World oil to start buush-fires with, as it stinks too much to use on the driveway!

But Gary should be along any shortly to tell us all we want to know about oil!

    Make mine Stihl, running:

    MS-660 3/4" muff-mod

Yep I run the Husky oil from Lowes, for about $10.75 or so.... at my local Husky shop, I think its about $12 a gallon..... At the closest Stihl dealer, its almost $16 a gallon!?

I'll leave the WalMart Poulan oil, for the Wild Thang owners!!

I've been using Husky oil in Australia and its costing me (equivalent) of USD$10 gallon. I've got 40 gallons stocked up because I know its going to have to go up soon! Good oil although they all pretty well do the same job.

every logger i know uses itasca. 7 bucks a gallon . adjust the oiler to run out at same time as gas and get to it. i cant see paying 15 dollars a gallon for oil. i would spend 75 a week for oil at that price. i gripe about having 750 dollars aweek in fuel and oil cost and people pay 15 for bar oil. if i went all name brand on my bar oil i would spend almost an extra 2000 bucks a year on oil. i think that money would better spend on new chokers, cables, 2000 is almost a new set of skidder tire chains. just my two cents, i didnt buy 15 dollar bar oil

So what if poulan oil isn't as good as stihl oil? It can't be far behind, if any. So Take the 5 dollars a gallon you save over stihl brand, and put it in a jar over the life of your bar and chain. Say, if a bar lasts through ten gallons of oil, you've saved 50 bucks. and the money you save should pay for a bar. There is no way the higher priced stuff could make a bar last that much longer.
MS freakin 361!!!! Stihl 046 Stihl 028 super Stihl Husky 61 (scored piston) Husky 36 (dad has it) 028 WB in pieces. Poulan 4000 and a ported 026 project thats waiting on rings.

Wow 15 dollars a gallon is a lot. I usually go to wallmart and get the cheepo stuff for 5 bucks. never noticed much of a differance between the good stuff and the cheep stuff performance wise.
