    For you saw builders

I have been tossing around the idea of buying a 660. I walked my woods tonight and am not seeing myself being able to justify one and get alot of use out of one. Also, after using my 460 all day my back is really ticked off at me.

Which got me thinking, why not build my 460. From what I read some of you guys build saws for people on here, and I was wondering if that is something someone would do. I was wondering about the cost of course, also, is it better to port the stock cylinder or would there be more power if I ordered a BB kit from Baileys and get that cylinder ported. Then, do I just ship the cylinder or the whole saw, I asume it is the whole saw so it can get tunned.

Who out there does this? And what kind of power gain can I expect?

We have a couple of sponsors that are doing good work. They'll need the whole saw. It's far better to port your stock cylinder. It has more potential.

Why is that? I like to hear that, because if the stock one has more potential it saves me some money, but are the BB kits not made to factory specs, and wouldnt the extra displacement be worth something?

Hey Big Genius one of the most knowledgeable guys on this site just gave you good advice. Search the BB kits and what others have tried to do and you will understand.

I think that you're on the right track having the 460 built over getting a 660. That is unless you're doing a bunch of BIG stumping/bucking. WDO

My 460 is my favorite saw, and I have a ported 066BB too. The 460 turns more RPMs and has enough grunt to do anything you likely want.

Have a 201T that doesn't run like you expected? Need a new one that's already modded and ready to go? PM me for details.

I'm fairly new to modded saws, but Just from what I have read around the forms I would go with Tree Slinger guy from what I have read the other guys saws wont run much better if any over a stock saw.

I have also heard you get more gains from the stock cylinder.
The biggest problem people have had with the BB kits is the cir-clips in the kits. They have been known to come off and trash a cylinder and piston. Bailey's will make good on this, and they have worked with the manufacture to improve them.
With all that beind said, I wouldn't trade my BB 046 for a new 660!! I love mine! The guy that built it took his time, sent me pictures as it was being built and used as many stock Sihl parts as he could.

As I do not own one of his saw, I must say this is second hand knowledge. BUT I have NEVER hear a bad word said, and I know SEVERAL people that are VERY happy with his saws!
