I am looking for books on tree climbing and triming techniques and unfortunately I live in he Midwest where the subject is not popular. My local library has nothing. Does anyone know what books I can look for. (Felling also).
Thanks

Be sure to get a copy of the ANSI Z133 standards. These are the official rules for the "game of arboriculture".

All excellent,
Free-Sherrill Catalog?
Free-The Archives here (and other places Tom might know)
For higher end i'll toss in "High Angle Rescue Techniches" Vines and Hudson, if you like "On Rope" discussions, this has more rope science if that is what you find you like.
Favorite knot book: "The Art of Knotting and Splicing" Cyrus Day, Naval Institute Press, more background
Some of the ArboMaster Tapes might be budgetable.

Excellent recommendations. If your budget is limited take some of these titles to your local library and request them through interlibrary loan. Sometimes it takes a while, others it may only be a week but you can get nearly anything to look at for 2 weeks for free.![]()
Nothing diminishes anxiety faster than action. ~Walter Anderson
if your looking for some good reference type tree books pick up "arboriculture" which would be possibly be the fourth edition now and everyone should have a copy of Dr. gilmans pruning guide. alot of these books can also be obtained through your isa chapter.
And doing what you are doing on the internet. There is a wealth of resourse all over the place.
Also, look for a good tree ID book for your area
Many of the above books are not in libraries yet, but Tree Management by Pirone et al can be found. It is somewhat dated, but is fine as a starting place.
And keep asking questions here, a few guys may call you an idiot, but then so are they![]()
