It was a little hairy. Thank you Jesus for guiding my saw, hands and feet.
That's a scary fell rite there wow.
This is Judd
The 076 is gravitation-ally challenged . it likes sitting on the ground. Or chewing big logs.
and yes I know, they shouldn't be on the concrete.but its very old concrete and it was just for the photo
I have the same saw do u know how many cc is it ga boy
Quite the collection: 041 gear!! Wow! I am partial to the 076 Super (my milling and BIG wood saw).
I forgot to add possibly a future round top table???
Total Cost including Bar & Chain plus misc. parts $517.73_ Good thing it's a HOBBY_
090 Parts gotta be hard to find ? Most R expensive & elusive ! Posted a couple of finished MS-660. Bought Stihl 3/8 36" Bar & Chain $137.45_ Saw Runs like a dream ! Running 89 Octane Non-Ethanol mixed w Super-Tech 40:1_kills Mosquitoes_Plenty of lubrication on hot 100 degree days_Thanks for looking & good luck on the 090_
I never had a chance to run the stock 288. I really didnt modify the cylinder much. Just rounded and smoothed out the bottom of the transfers ports and polished the exhaust. I did not alter any port heights. I also opened the stock muffler and deleted the base gasket.
Everyone says they run excellent stock, but this one is quite a beast and has the torque to run a much bigger bar. I think youd be more than happy with it if you did something similar...
Hey bud nice work on the 288! I just picked up a 288xp builder... Wanted to ask if you think all the extra work on the cylinder was worth it???
The saw I have in the pictures above i paid $50 for but it was in a box takin apart all the way to the case, let's just say it needed quit a bit
Hey bud take a look at "Stihl 025 Frank'N'Saw" on YouTube
I think there was one just like that on eBay a little while ago CS2100 I believe is what the old dogz modl
Decomp Valve is pushed in this pic. Chain brake makes it useless without a mod I don't think this saw really needed it but why not test some skills.
The 630 2line with a aftermarket 272 muffler and a little touch on the exhaust port is quite the saw on a quick spin. It will be interesting to see what the 52mm mod 630 has to say on the second match with the 630 superII i believe.
Let's see that dog cut!
Just a note to anyone looking to do this when you order the new top end order a matching carb/intake manifold/ muffler its an extra 20-40 PR set Intake/exhaust so 40-80. Oh and if you want to keep the decomp get the mig and skill out or a bolt haha.
Go check out "Stihl 025 Frank'N'Saw" on youtube.
This looks more like a storage problem than a hoarding problem to me!
Sorry for the mistake : *her
This SXL is in REALLY GOOD original condition, original chain, sharp and never sharpened! Make offer!
I sure like them as well!
I have a BUNCH!
@Skyjayday I have a ported and polished xl12 and a stock 1967 STIHL 041 , although I love Homelites that Old STIHL is about the same stock as that ported and polished xl12, which it has a mufmod gapless rings and really low squish, with adjusted timing.
I have one STIHL to 30 Homeys!
Homelite are the best chainsaws I don't care what anyone says all used my Homelite before stihl
I have a Stihl 044 that I bought for a steal of a deal.
Had a new 18" bar and dull chain and I think that's why buddy sold it.
He didn't know how to start it when I was there...lol.
I paid $300 CAD.
Well I didn't get any response on that haha. I'm about ready to get a few cuts on these two and start the comparison's. I have a feeling that the two line is going to smoke the single line set up... Both same bar and chain one is 84dl and the other 85dl both have 8&7 tooth 3/8 rim to test aswell...
Will foto some of my other older fleet - 08s -041- 051 before plastic appeared! A Funny for ya - if your tree is making you frown , why not cut the F###er down , be it large or be it small the old Sawdog will make it fall ..! Keep well !
Thanks bud. The ugliest of the bunch is still always my go to haha 025. The cs341 is pretty deadly. I've run a few new echo kinda back and forth with them. New saws are going to need a obd reader soon if they don't already Haha.
Cheers Denton , like your fleet too bro!! Always used stihl but last coupla years used echos for -up da tree- cutting .Dogsaw .( gaz)
I've been thinking about building an 090 any thoughts on this one??specifically for milling.
Yep the largest was 47.25". Cuts all made horizontally. Donated one to a local Elementary school for the kids to learn with and from.
are those rounds cut free hand?
Love the carbon fiber touch
Love my MS 660 clone. I mill with it and other than an oil pump and wormgear replacement it hasn't quit.
Sounds like a dream job eh rite on!
These old gerls are so worth fixing up... Just had a chat with a local Stihl dealer about the new to old. I fixed one of these for a friend about 3yrs ago and man did it ever rip.
