Thanks for the pix. I will check my 028 out for clarification.
95% of my Stihl parts come from the local OEM dealer, who is VERY helpful.
(they KNOW they can't sell me a new saw, but look to solicit a reputation as a good and helpful dealership)
A very few obsolete/NLA parts come from ebay, which they(dealer) recommend as the next best option.
where can i get a new oiler for an028 wood-boss av?
Yeah parts are pretty rare, think my best bet would be to buy a complete saw and take what I need.
I totally agree with all of what your sayin .... Except the time to build should be more like 3hrs given you have all the parts and tools you need.
I'm not to sure I just put it on the shelf for now it runs just needs a paint job. Hard to find parts for them? Random not, Stihl 038 was my first O/S build 52mm big bore I miss that saw haha
What sort of fuel tank vent does it have? I'm after one for my 270..

I've been to busy to even think about the 090 clone build last # I had all said and done was around 500-700$ EBay if you real dig you can find anything there.IJS I would build a 660 before the 090, I think you can keep it at 400-500$. Good luck Guys!
Couple of questions here, where did you get those chinese parts from, how long does it take you to built that thing and how much is it money-wise, may I ask?
I pickup up both the orange and grey from a Stihl dealer close to where I am. Only cost me around 10 bucks per can. The ceramic clear coat makes up for it though, a little pricey.
Nice looking saw. Looks great. I Picked up an 056 as a box of parts. Where did you find the paint for it?
Bang for buck what do you think? My Granberg showed up 3 days Holzforma 6weeks. There pretty close I actually like Holz's top cross brace tightening bolts better and there tool kit. If you need it now I would bite the bullet and go Granberg local. Both awsome rite!
Great work m8!
There's nothing like an old MAC to me!!
Looks Awesome! Great job!!
Yikes!! Ask for pro help on that scary thing....or risk it Wind is not a friend to that tree. And looks of good size.
She's a beaut. Love the custom carry case.
I'll let you know now that I have zero knowledge on trees, I'm purely a chainsaw guy, but I think that one has probably come pretty close to the end of it's life. It seems like it's got a lot of weight on either side and is a serious split waiting to happen, not really sure if bolting it together would buy you any time on this one.
It was a little hairy. Thank you Jesus for guiding my saw, hands and feet.
That's a scary fell rite there wow.
This is Judd
The 076 is gravitation-ally challenged . it likes sitting on the ground. Or chewing big logs.
and yes I know, they shouldn't be on the concrete.but its very old concrete and it was just for the photo
I have the same saw do u know how many cc is it ga boy
Quite the collection: 041 gear!! Wow! I am partial to the 076 Super (my milling and BIG wood saw).
I forgot to add possibly a future round top table???
Total Cost including Bar & Chain plus misc. parts $517.73_ Good thing it's a HOBBY_

I never had a chance to run the stock 288. I really didnt modify the cylinder much. Just rounded and smoothed out the bottom of the transfers ports and polished the exhaust. I did not alter any port heights. I also opened the stock muffler and deleted the base gasket.
Everyone says they run excellent stock, but this one is quite a beast and has the torque to run a much bigger bar. I think youd be more than happy with it if you did something similar...
Hey bud nice work on the 288! I just picked up a 288xp builder... Wanted to ask if you think all the extra work on the cylinder was worth it???
The saw I have in the pictures above i paid $50 for but it was in a box takin apart all the way to the case, let's just say it needed quit a bit
Hey bud take a look at "Stihl 025 Frank'N'Saw" on YouTube
I think there was one just like that on eBay a little while ago CS2100 I believe is what the old dogz modl
Decomp Valve is pushed in this pic. Chain brake makes it useless without a mod I don't think this saw really needed it but why not test some skills.
The 630 2line with a aftermarket 272 muffler and a little touch on the exhaust port is quite the saw on a quick spin. It will be interesting to see what the 52mm mod 630 has to say on the second match with the 630 superII i believe.
Let's see that dog cut!
