A few years ago I saw an old John deere 2 cylinder saw at the local dealer.I wanted that old saw bad.Went back a week later with the money and it was sold. Can anybody tell me what model that saw mighta been?Same as an Echo? Thanks

What was the reasoning for this saw from what I could find it wasn't very big. I don't understand a mid sized twin cylinder saw, it'd make sense if was something 90cc+ but it was a 60cc saw.

I think the main idea behind it was the smoothness and comfort of running it. I've run the twin cylinder Echo version in the woods and they are very smooth, but they're heavier with less working 'power' than a lot of single-cylinder similar displacement modern saws. A Stihl MS-361 would spank the Echo 610 hands down with the same bar and chain. The twin cylinder saws do have more bottom end 'grunt' though.

I was wondering the same thing. In engines smaller than 90 ccs, it seems an extra piston to push would zop more power.Only 2 cylinder saw I had ever seen was why I wanted it.Anybody ever ran one?Decent chain speed and power?

The chain speed is a lot lower because it's a reed-induction engine with the reed cage feeding directly into the crankcase ala Pioneer P-61/62. I think you tune the Echo 610/JD 66-SV top no-load speed at 9500. It may be 10,500- I have the technical specs somewhere. They also have a smaller Walbro HDA type carburetor so that's an additional bottleneck. I wasn't impressed with the performance of them simply because I'm spoiled on too many modified modern direct induction saws that average 12-13k in the cut.

I had one of each they are exactly the same except for the color I sold both of them on eBay after the novelty wore off they were not anything to write home about. :)

You want make a good 2 cyl saw, get two Echo CS-60s saws and remove the rear handle on the front saw and bolt them inline to a piece of alum plate. Double stack the sprocket drive and make a chain to run from the rear saw to the front saw on the outside drive sprocket rig up a carb linkage and wo la instant 123 cc saw...Bob
