Over the past few weeks I have been casually scanning ebay (we all do is my guess) for a cheap Husqvarna 455 "parts" saw to hack up and build....haven't seen any.

I see OTHER Husqvarna's of all ages and sizes, especially those 350's; Stihl's of all sizes and shapes, old Homies & Mac's. No Husqvarna 455's. Why?

Is it that when those 455's die the home owners just chuck them in the trash? Hard to believe for a $400 dollar saw.

Is it that they statistically don't break to the catastrophic level often? Even though that are jetted LEAN lean...lean. At least mine was.

Do people just like them and fix'em up after a break down? Why aren't there any 455's "beaters" for parts on ebay..for a long time now? An anomoly as they have been around for several years...certainly long enough for them to wear out.

Its just Murphy's law,.. when your looking for something you really want, theres none to be found. Next month when you dont need it anymore there will be tons,.. cheap,.. just save your search and let ebay do the work, something will pop up :chainsaw:

I have been looking at Ebay for parts saws, it seems like everything goes for way more than they are worth, at least to me.

Problem is winter is almost over..won't have time to play with one in a few more weeks.

Maybe "Child" psycology is in order, bait & switch....say & post I want a Stihl..or Dolmar; even convince myself to the point of commiting time and bucks..as there are plenty of "parts" version of the nicer ones...and then just before pressing that "Bid Now" button for that 026 or 5100s "parts" saw, do a quick search and nab that 455 that just got posted for the right price....

I`ve noticed a definate reduction in the amount of saws coming on the bay. Before christmas there was another ten pages of stihls or huskys and things were manic with some real junk selling for silly money.
Sit tight though and a deal will come up. Most folk want a 6 or 7 day listing finishing on saturday or sunday evening so i check out anything new early on in the week. Sometimes a buy now may come up at a cheap price only just listed. I picked up a superb 026 like this recently.
