Now that I've had five hours to cool down I'll tell you a story.......

I watched a Dolmar CA for about a week on eBay, it was clean and had of the (Unusual) Dolmar CA "Cut off Saw" type air filter.
I'm an eBay "Sniper" and was poised with an £85 bid to be deployed two seconds before the auction ended, but, disaster struck as my Internet connection took a notion to play in the slow lane and my bid missed the deadline by a few seconds.
The little bugger sold for a mere £34!

Oh well, another one will come along sometime!
My Computer Monitor became the focus point for a torrent of abuse for a short time even though it's a Sunday!

I was watching it but did not bid..... I also noticed the cutoff hood and the aftermarket plug wire....

I noticed the Shipping rate requested to the USA and figured some member on your side of the Atlantic had an eye on it, £100 was a bit steep though!

That is BAD LUCK! I was watching it, and thinking I bet Dibbs has his eye on that - might have bidded otherwise! Well, maybe anyway... It was rather a low price, I wonder who he was.
Oh well, just an excuse to get another one

I bet you had a little laugh to yourself when you read my first post!
My eBay luck had to run out sometime!
I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled!

ooh I know the pain enough not to laugh! With me it'sa normally that I forget - I use your method and it has worked well, but I'm always paranoid of an internet failure at the crucial moment. It's a good method but you only get one chance...

Well I can laugh about it now, but at the time I just couldn't!
It would have finished off the Dolmar "C" (CA,CC,CT) wish list for me, which would "only" have left a 166 to find!

If you were using a real ebay "sniper" it didn't matter if your internet connection went kaput... it bids for you no matter what...

...unless what you mean by "sniper" is that you were trying to do the bid at 2 seconds yourself. I use a "online sniper service" if I wanna snipe something. I only use it when I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, want something... :)

Or to keep yourself from forgetting to bid at the last minute like I did on a clean 385 that sold a few weeks ago for like $200. All it needed was crank bearings:cry: I've never used a sniper though.

As Gary said the sniper services are not dependent on your connection. You place the bids days before the auction ends. The sniper service places it within a few seconds of the end. You can be off doing something else.

That's cool, never heard of it?? How does it work, is it a 3rd party website I guess.

I can't make this claim any more. I use EZ Sniper to win this 390XP. 390XP. Wish me luck! The new piston is supposed to be OEM. He also threw in a clutch cover and a set of spikes. Hopefully the crank and cases are good. Bearings are cheap if they're bad. I hope to make a real animal out of this thing.
