i have a husqvarna 65L. it ran fine for about a year and then it started to have problems. at first it would idle fine but when i would rev it up to full throttle it would bog down and practically die. then i adjusted the highspeed jet and now it wont idle and will bog down and die when its at full throttle. i think it might be the crank seals going bad, can anyone help me with this?

This sounds like a fuel delivery problem to me. I would clean and rebuild the carb first, then have it properly set for idle and wot. Check all the fuel lines, fuel pickup and filters. Once the engine is getting its proper fuel it will most likely perform properly. If not then it would need to be vac. tested to see if there is a vac leak somewhere.

hey thanks, ill try that. oh and i forgot to say that i put a new carb kit and cleaned it out after it was having problems

check the tank vent. it is a little brass thingy on the other line from the gas tank. remove it, then try it.

Did you put a new gasket between the carb and the powerhead, if so does it have the hole in the gasket lined up with the impulse port, this drives the pump diaphragm in the carb. I have seen many installed upside down or reversed, actually found one this morning on a saw that would not pump gas after a carb rebuild by the saws owner. The gasket was on upside down, thus blocking the impulse port.

i did what you suggested. i looked over fuel lines and they were fine, the saw has been sitting from late spring till the up untill a few days ago and now it will not start.

If you spray a little fuel mix in the carb throat, will the saw start and run 10-15 seconds? If it will start and run a couple of seconds, do this a couple of times and if the carb don`t pick up the fuel from the tank and keep[ the engine running, then there is still a fuel delivery problem. If the carb does pick up the fuel and keep the engine running the carb needs to be adjusted correctly to get it to idle correctly and then to run the saw at high speed. The adjuster screws need to be set initially one turn out from lightly seated, a little adjustment to get the saw to idle and reach WOT will be needed once the saw is running.

I don't mean to take this guys thread but I have a Timber bear that won't pickup the fuel. It only has one line from the tank and the filter is good and so is the fuel line. If i take a syringe that I put a piece of hose on and remove the carb fuel line and hook the hose from the syringe to the carb and fill it up it will crank fine and cuts like a big dog. It has 150 psi compression. It will run and can be cranked as long as you use it but the next day it's like the fuel drains from the carb back to the tank. I have cleaned the carb out three times and the gasket matches on the intake. The diaphragms and gaskets are in place as they should be. Any thoughts on this ,and sorry to butt in on your 65L thread. FullCry PS, If the carb on the 65L is a Tillotson then I have never had problems with them after cleaning them out.
