I have one of these I was going to use but forgot how to wire it up. It has one blue wire and one yellow wire. Anybody know how to wire it?:bang:

I think so

HMMMM know you have me thinking. Will these work on any type of saw that has points?

The Nova, Mega Fire, and Atom will work on all points/ condensor saws as long as the coil is good. Am I correct? I have an 032 that is going to get one of these this week. I will post when it is completed.

Brad,

Where did you mount your Nova?

Got mine installed and it runs great. Now I have to fix the chain break, it stays locked all the time. You can pull the handle back but it wont stay.

Thanks

Thank you all for your posts and suggestions. I will look at Brad's past posts. Boy was I dumb to not to get one of these from Stens before I closed my saw business!!

Omega module

I wired up my 032 to see if I could get spark. Oh yeah, plenty of spark now! I used an Omega ignition module from NAPA. The first picture is the Omega module following pictures of the tear down, home made flywheel puller, rebuild. I noticed this evening my off position does not work on my switch. I will find one somewhere. The saw starts and idles. I think the impulse line and possibly the fuel line will need replaced. I will probably install a carb kit will I am at it. Please feel free to ask any questions. It was really easy to install.

My Dad put an Atom on an old GoodAll starting unit that had a 8 hp Kohler and he said it started better than it did new and that was 15 years ago. I still cant figure out how it works. :dizzy:

Convert to electronics

Hi Trever,
Very good pics of the install. Like the puller too. Do you happen to have the NAPA part number? Did your store have it in stock or did they have to order it?
Thanks,
Bob

Bob,
The NAPA part number is 7-01749. My store in Athens had it in stock. $21.00 and some change including tax. Thank you.

... Aaannnd... I think I see how to make my Remington Super 660 even more awesome.

You bet it would!! Show some pictures of your 660 Super.

Omega is one I have not heard of. It looks like a Nova

Bill,
It is NAPA's version of the NOVA II and Mega Fire Universal module.

Trouba,
It was a pretty straight forward install. All the module does is replace the points and condensor. You need a working coil for it to work though. The new module comes with 2 wires. The short wire is your ground wire, and the long wire is wired into the coil primary (small wire that ran to your points) wire. The module came with instructions and an illustration. It also, explained how to wire a saw with reversed polarity (Stihl 031, I think).

You can find these modules locally or fleabay. I probably could have gotten it cheaper elsewhere, but I like supporting local businesses when I can.

Give a holler if you need any help. Have a blessed day.

Trev,
On your install thread it didn't look like you spliced your kill switch wire into the hot side. If you do your current switch will function.

Kill switch

Mossy,
I appreciate you response. I didn't show the picture where I spiced them all together. The module came with a self tapping metal screw and a wire nut. I joined the coil's primary wire, the module's hot (long) wire, and the kill swith wire all together. I checked my coil and kill switch with my multi-meter beforehand, and knew my off position would not work. I have to clean some wiring and choke it to stop. Thank you and have a blessed day.

Never mind, I fount the instuctions that came with it.
