anyone else have one of these? Im after the numbers off the motor so I can maybe get one locally. Foley wants $340 for the 1/6hp motor. rip off.

Chain Grinder

Jim, Look at the cheaper one that Great Northern has for about $70.00. It will only do 3/8 chain but I have bought the larger wheels, modified mine a little & now with just the change of the wheel I can sharpen just about any chain. Mine is about 6 months old now--I have sharpened about 100 chains & it is hanging in there just fine. It is made of high density plastic & not real well made but it does a good job....BILL IRVINE

id have the numbers off mine but the grinder motor caught fire..

Must be one heck of an electric motor seems like they are sure proud of it. I priced a 1/2 hp motor for my air compressor and was stunned at 400+. Fortunately doesn't need a motor I was just checkin "just in case".

Steve here... General Electric # 5KCP19KG517
Hope this helps

This number didn't cross over to anything on Grainger. I've been looking for one too for a friend. Had a Dayton motor on one but the GE has run a lot longer on his other two. He was told by a local motor shop that the GE # didn't match up to anything. I'm guessing it's a captive item - by FB and that's why they can get so much for it.

Could you PM me the contact info for these parts and Foley Belsaw?

Thanks.

The borazon/CBN wheels aren't cheap ($120 each), but they last a LONG time and you never have to dress them. If you only do a couple chains a month, it's probably not worth it but if you sharpen commercially or just a cut a lot, it's more than worth it.

Thanks for that web site. For some reason it didn't come up on Google.

What diameter wheels do you use? I see 5.75inch but I don't think that will fit my machine?
