I am going to try and supply local campgrounds and would like to here from people who can ship tractor trailer loads to zip 25862. I am interested in price per bundle per full load also please include your shipping cost to that zip. My plan is to offer a broker service to those I can not supply myself and I need to see where the prices are so I do not undercut my broker service because fact is most will have to be brokered. I would rather people PM me with prices. I do not care what kind of wood it is but it has to be dry and ready to burn. Please let me know what type of wood or woods you are quoting.

Thanks

The first thingthat comes to mind is that unless the wood is kiln dried and USDA certified, you could have a bit of an issue crossing state lines. In regards to firewood "keep it local" seems to be the way to go. On that note, there is a member here that has recently aquired a kiln and could be of interest in speaking with.

I am going

to do everything I can to supply them myself and am going to spend 10k in new equipment but there is just to much demand. What kind of price should I shoot for on a per bundle price on a full tractor trailer load delivered here? This should be about 1800 bundles per load. I think I know where the price should be but would love to here other opinions I could be wrong also.

Thanks

I don't know what you will find it for. Around here people are getting $2.20-2.50 for non kiln dried wood in .75 cubic foot bundles. So you would have to pay that plus shipping (600 mile trip) to get it from someone around here. I'm not quoting you a price just letting you know what it goes for around here. Like guns said a lot of people can't ship it to you legally if it's not kiln dried.

Anyone thats USDA certified which is what you will need will be around $5 per bundle your cost.

Campers aren't interested if it is kiln dried or not. If you have to sell the wood say $2 more per bundle, it won't be long before someone else cuts into your action that can sell it cheaper because of the kiln drying and shipping costs.
I can't believe you would have to ship firewood INTO WV to meet the demand.

Around here the local Lowe's and such sell 3/4 cu. ft. bundles for $5.99 so with sales tax customers are paying $8.20/cu. ft. I sell 1 cu. ft. bundles for $4.00, a fraction less than half of the Lowe's but mine are just well-seasoned oak and cherry, non-kilned. my wood is the better wood but their value added is the kiln drying process. The convenience stores get even higher than Lowe's! This probably didn't answer your question but I hope it's helpful.

We may be thinking the same thing here and I'm just not understanding the statement. But if he's having it shipped in, it HAS to be kiln dried.

But you are right - campers aren't interested in kiln-dried wood. It's a ##### to cook over green poplar, though... and wet oak, forget it...

I have got some quotes around $3 USDA truck loads.

That sounds about right. I could do it for that but not shipped. For me I can just sell it local for around the same money. Good luck in your search. There are some good supplier out there.

It seems low to me but tack on shipping and maybe, I know the largest bundle supplier in the US personally and he gets way more than that for USDA cert bundles. However if you can find them locally and dont need the cert that is for sure the way to go. We get more than $3 for our bundles and we only deliver within 75 miles. Good luck

all price quotes are delivered to my zip. Key seems to be to try and find someone close so you do not have a massive ship bill.

Mother Earth Farms, LLC

Our company (Mother Earth Farms, LLC) can ship firewood to any state because it is kiln dried. If you or anyone else reading this needs kiln dried firewood, please let me know. Thanks!

I tried what your wanting to do it didn'twork for me I went back to just me and local wood and customers. More profit and less work. But there is a place in Mn. That deliver all over the heart land I live in southern Illinois and they deliver all the way down here. When I went in the bundled firewood business I was the only one now there are 6 venders. I sell bulk $2.50 to stores. I sell to homes and delivery it 10 bundles $4.00 a bundle.

You have quite a few large mills in that area go talk to some of them they may point you in the right direction

supply and demand

Oh what a wonderful world we live in. What does this have to do with the price of tea in Taiwan? Everything, unfortunately.

I am making bundles out here in Colorado. When you figure in transportation it more than a few hundred miles is out. If there were no wood available then naturally the price would go up, and eventually you could order your bundles from the western coast... or Taiwan. How about made in China? :hmm3grin2orange:

Now.... get some darned government mandated unions outta the way, and set this country back in motion on 4' 8½" track. you could have had a box car of bundles for 1/4 what it would take to truck them. Just saying...

You can ship kiln dried can't you? Processed lumber that is kiln dried gets rail shipped all the time I think.

Not sure what unions have to do with shipping firewood really.

Kiln dryed can ship. it kills all the bugs. I have been checking into a kiln for a while now they are quite pricey.
