Well, too many of these on line parts places for Sthil seem scattered and far from offering a full line on their parts offering. In my case I have an 026. If I want common parts like a carb, chain or bar it's easy to find. If I want to find a seach engine that will list ' all' the parts that come with this saw - that search engine or finding the on line re-seller of a full line of parts is hard for me to find.

Just wondering if someone knows of a Sthil parts re-seller who is on line and has a search engine so I can order from a ' full ' line of parts availability. So far I just seem to find web sites that stumble on a very limited line of parts - not the full line. I know I can always go back to my local dealer , but Stihl's mark up is sometimes insane - like on the carb. I wonder if Husky is any better for finding a complete line of parts for your saw at a reasonable price? This Sthil search is depressing. Just finding a simple fuel line for an 026 can take 40 min. I think I have found a fuel line for 6 other model Sthil's - but for my 026 - that's just asking too much.
Just hoping some of you have found better sites than me and can spread the info. Also just wondering if it gets any better if I switch brands? Good saws are good, but a good source of spare parts is critical.

You have to order Stihl parts and Stihl saws from a Stihl dealer. Stihl forbids online sales, though some used and NOS parts are available on the 'bay.

Baileys can also get you Stihl parts, but they don't stock them, and they seem to add their markup to the Stihl price.

Yes, Husky is better for internet parts sales. Buy the cheap stuff from your Stihl dealer and get the expensive stuff used on eBay.

check around to a few different dealers too. I needed some clutch pieces and one dealer wanted to charge over $20 more then the other dealer.

Mounting the Carb

The other issue. My new Carb is coming in the mail.
I don't see a traditional gasket to join the face of the carb to the inlet manifold on this Sthil 026 or should I say, what I call a gasket that I would cut out from a sheet from NAPA appears to be a much large black rubber sort of gasket at the point where carb meets intake port. Does this big rubber looking gasket need to be replaced or will it reseal the new carb from intake leaks? Sthil calls this big rubber looking gasket a "washer" in my 024-026 Sthil Manual at the top of page 52.

Next, inside the inlet port itself they have something called ' a sleeve'. I have never seen ' a sleeve' that is slide inside the bore of an inlet port. The closest thing I've seen to this is what they call a ' reed valve'. Anyone have a clue on this ' sleeve' and do I need to replace the ' washer' when the new carb comes in?

Is it just me? I must be getting old. I guess I'll throw my sheet of gasket material away for when I use to simply cut out a new gasket from the outline of the old gasket. I've never even heard the term 'washer' at the point where the carb attaches to the inlet hole on the jug.

Howdy,
Any item number on our site that starts with a "QS" prefix is a Stihl OEM part. We have over 1300 OEM parts listed. Currently we stock just under a few hundred (common selling)OEM Stihl parts. We do have them in our base system so it would take a phone call or a e-mail to get a price quote.

Howdy,
The carb basically tightens down against the rubber intake manifold. The washer and the sleeve keep the rubber boot from distorting when the carb is tightened. The washer keeps the manifold from expanding outward and the sleeve keeps it from expanding inward. With your particular unit, a gasket is not required.

Its just you. There is no gasket between the carb and that black thing you see, that thing is the manifold. You bolt the carb right againist it. The brass ring in the middle of that rubber thing you see is a sleeve to ensure the manifold can't close up....

What is the mark up on a Stihl carb? Also depending on how old your 026 is it may take one of two fuel hoses. You need to know what tank housing you have on that saw to get the right hose. I get my parts at the dealer, good guy I deal with, seems to always have everything I want...
