hello
I was looking for an old cheap small chainsaw on ebay and I found this:

It is called a "Bernard BM 236.3" in french but I think it is a poulan...
Does anybody know something about this saw, I can't find anything on the net...
thank you

The chain brake looks like the one that was used on the Canadian 2400 series, but if I recall that saw had the top mounted oiler. I believe the 2300AV had a similar chain brake, but the top cover was plastic. You might want to post in the Poulan thread above and maybe Mark, Joe, Mike or another knowledgeable member can help.

Certainly looks like a Poulan top-handle of the late '70s, early '80s. Either 2.1 or 2.3 cid.
Some of the 2.3 saws (maybe all) were SCREAMERS for their day- happy at high rpm and LOUD.
Besides engine displacement, there were variations of chain-oiler: manual only, automatic only, both IIRC.
If it's in good health, I'd say it's a keeper. Search http://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.nsf under "Chain Saws" | "Beaird Poulan" | "20" to "S25DA" to refine search.
(Didn't know there were french numerals.) ;)
Il n'y a pas de quoi.

I have a poulan 2000 with a chain brake like that, but mine is not CVA. Definitely a small poulan in the s25cva series.

Great little saws.

Thanks for the heads up on the pic! It's what I thought it was. I've got 2 or 3 of them in different colors. One of them is a Wizard (Western Auto). Got your reply.

Thank you all. Merci à tous

from the different pictures, I think it is closer to Micro 25CVA, but not sure.
I'll try to buy it this evening.
They say it works well, Do you think 50 euros is a good price?
thanks

Hello, thats hard to tell with out more pictures but that to me appears to be a 2300CVA and the 236 in the model # is probably pointing to being 2.3CI displacement.

When Poulan rebranded saws for other customers there seems to be somtimes variations of what would have been Poulan models, so it could be a combination of American models.

I just have aquired a few documents that show Poulan private labled more export saws then I had thought including the brand you show.

I'm not sure how much 50 Euros is so I cannot comment on that.
