I know this is a strange request, but, would anyone here have a clutch cover off of an Echo CS-315, that they would be willing to PM me a picture of, along with some measurements.

I am trying to get this saw up and running for the Va GTG, and a new cover seems to be non-existant.

I can probably fab up one, but do not have anything to go off of.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.

I have one. I can fab up one easier since i have a shop and can copy mine. Ebay is full of 315 parts...Bob

Thanks Bob, that will get me in the ballpark. I would take you up on the offer of having you fab one, but I am outta work for 2 weeks,so cashflow is not to swell. Just using this downtown, to organize what I need to get done, so when i am released from doctor's care, i can get it done.

I have the raw materials, just needed a template to figure it out

Thanks again

I am outta work too (retired/layed off/self employed) and bored to death. I can have one in tomorrows mail pay me when you can no hurry i am not broke...Bob

I will definitly have to get back with you. I don't want to say sure, then the doc takes me out longer. That is why i was looking for measurements and such. Let me get up and working, but i will absolutely purchase one. I am sure yours will be alot closer than mine will be.

Just PM me with your address. It can't take ten minutes to make and i have all the alum material minus the orange paint. My gift to you...Bob

A very nice offer on your part Bob. 315 is a dandy little saw.

That was the best 97 bucks i spent on mine in 1977. Still using it today. It is the same engine disp as the orig CS-301 and CS-302 before Echo changed to The CS-302S. I wish i had bought a dozen of them but that was a weeks pay for me...Bob

This saw is actually the last saw my Grandfather purchased before he passed away. It was the victim of falling out of the back of his truck onto a paved road at 45 m.p.h, and he basically wrote it off as destroyed.

I purchased a parts saw from ModifiedMark some time ago, and it had everything i needed to get it back running again, except the clutch cover.

Thanks again Bob

Can't remember what Zip-Penn charged for my 315. Bought mine close to the same time as yours, partly on good review in Consumer Reports. (honest)

It had some down-time after #2 son "eloped" with it for some bootleg stuff, and destroyed the starter pulley. Husky pulley now in place, working fine.

Saw still runs great. Still, only real complaint is how fuel tank gets heat conducted from crankcase, making the fuel real "bubbly." :biggrinbounce2:
You learn to give it a few minutes' cool-down before refuelling.

Yup mine boils gas just fine too. And the starter pulleys its amazing how the Husky and the Echo will interchange. The Echo was a little thicker but the huskys are still around. I just found a Zip Penn catalog in my box of books from the early 80's...Bob

Very nice Bob, give it a shot of paint and you won't be able to tell it from the original .

Yep, I was right, Bob, you definitely hit that one out of the park. My copy would have been a cobbled together, Frankenstein.

To your fab skills i can only say one thing::bowdown:

I cobbled it too LOL. Now i need to make one for my 1001 and my 301. I just have all of the cobblers tools and machines...Bob

Well here it is hot off the welding bench...Bob

Damn nice work, Bob! :msp_w00t:

Oddly enough, I'm dredging up this old thread because I find myself in need of a clutch cover for a CS-315. I recently bought a lot of ten saws from a guy in Columbus, and one of them is a SWEET li'l 315 powerhead, but it's missing the clutch cover (one-hole style). I can find a bar and chain easy enough, and I've already ordered a Walbro WA33 rebuild kit, but that clutch cover is kinda hard to find.

Anybody got one? Bob, if you're still here, can you still make one?

Any help would be appreciated.
