I have been cutting tamarack long butts at work for shop firewood..... the butts are from 3 to 5 footers(big uns) and i have been having problems with my saw binding up from the zap getting stuck on and in the bar and chain...is there any tricks that will help? im getting tired of cleaning my bar and drivers every 5 or 6 blocks.... thank you!

I heard tamarak does all sorts of wierd stuff to your saw. What i heard is the fibers are all twisted up inside and that makes it bind up your saw. And also the wood will start to twist when you cut it. I can double check that with the guy I heard it from to make sure though. And, of course, you guy's here can correct me too if I'm wrong.

Mabe you need a spray bottle full of kerosene. .

Hadda big old busted-top DF once that pissed on me when I pulled the extractor out of the increment borer. Not the first time, nor the last, but on this particular occasion I was WAY away from the truck and only halfway through the day. Cleaned it up with DEET, which was all I had on me. Not a bad solvent, as it turns out. Finished the day without further events.

My dad found out the hard way how good of a solvent DEET is. he had a bottle of 100% DEET bug repelent that leaked on his plastic watch strap and it melted the watch right there. Whole strap was gone. As for the tamarack spray your bar down with something slick and turn your oiler all the way up if it isnt already. More oil is a good thing for sticky firewood, even helps it burn a little longer
