Yup, you read that right. The MS200T is being replaced with the 201T mid 2011.
35 cc
2.3 bhp
9.04 lbs

For comparison, the 200T is
35.22 cc
2.1 bhp
7.9 lbs

I'm afraid it's not going to fair well that the new 201T weighs 14% more than the 200T. Looks like price will be the same.

Thanks for info Brad, do you have any more info on it? Strato? Weight will be its killer i think. Used 200T's will be in higher on the want list.

Thats terrible news to hear! Thats alot of extra weight on a TH. They'll be some bad vibes through the chainsaw world I would think. Farewell, greatest TH of all time.

The whole reason for running top-handles is because of their compact size, LIGHT WEIGHT and easy handling. 200T's are already one pound overweight as they are, another pound added is B.S. man. A heavier saw is regression, not improvement. Re-designing the 200T as a heavier saw would have to be one of Stihls most stupid/clueless ideas yet

Dosn't Husky have some new mutated looking top handle coming out?
It might be so horrible that the new Stihl boat anchor, still holds on...ya never know.

Yeah its quite wild that only in the world of saws, that we have went full circle due mainly to the EPA. We have increasingly seen higher power to weight ratios every year since the 90's till now. Now that we are going in the other direction, and gain a few ounces. there are a lot of people whining, but we all seem to forget what they were using only a couple decades ago. Its not all that bad, honest, especially for most of us who are non professionals anyhow.

WHOT!?

LOL!!

Seriously. The spy pics of the Husky made my dogs leave the room whining, and I was aghast.
No way that thing is gonna top the 200.
Dosn't have to now though...:D

The only Stihl I really lust after is a 200, and don't really need a TH. Kinda irks me.
Just sayin'.

Sounds like bad news for those that use such saws.

Have you ever ran a 200T or the rear handle version? I didn't think the T was all that easy to handle with the poor handle spacing, but it was designed mainly for one hand use. Too close together for me and I quickly found out how kick back prone they are. The T is about as light as they get for a saw that can be dropped from a bucket and survive the impact. Not sure how Stihl could trim down that tubbyass little saw without giving up it's ruggedness.

The 261 gained weight over the 260 and I couldn't believe all the whinning about how the added weight ruined it as a serious limber. Well, we all know how that has turned out and some of the biggest critics became the loudest to sing it's praises.

I distinctly remember some guy on this site saying that the extra weight of the 261 was a "deal breaker" and then after purchasing one remarked that it felt lighter then it's competition. I also remember a video that was posted here and at some point in that video the phrase "get that old king outta here" was uttered in reference to the 346XP. Apparently the extra weight was no longer an issue.

But carry on, I love these threads.

Typical stihl math. A strato will cost you about a pound and $50 bucks. The 200t was in sore need of an update. Hopefully, it will get better antivibe and a workable oil cap. The oil cap alone might be worth an extra pound.

I was wondering when the 200t was gonna get replaced....I was expecting the 660 and 200t to be the last stihl saws to be replaced with stratos.

The Husky and Jred version will be out sometime this year as well. The current Husky seems to have all the kinks worked out of it now and they feel better IMO. The 200t though will continue to be my climbing saw as I just love the power.

Good point on Stihl adding durability.
That 1lb might just be some sort of "Flubber" armor.

As long as it's an update in all areas, why not drop proof it a bit more?

I'm sitting on a brand new 200T that I am thinking of offering up for sale. I supose holding it a while longer will return more than a Bank money market.
